The retired farmer was born July 16, 1900 in Otterville, a son of Walter & Mary (Dabbs) Davenport. Services were conducted Wednesday at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home by Rev. Robert Patterson of Grafton with burial in Fieldon cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Laurine (Tice) Davenport whom he married February 11, 1929 in Jerseyville; 5 Sons, Leslie and Gary of Jerseyville, Jim of Dow, Donald of Carlyle and Leeof Gray, GA; 1 Daughter, Marilyn Pruitt of Fieldon; 13 grandchildren and 6 g-grandchildren; 2 Sisters, Geneva Mourning of Peoria, AZ and Roberta Christen of Phoenix, AZ and 1 step sister, Marie Keehner of - incomplete. Mrs. Laurine L Davenport Laurine L. Davenport, 77, of Fieldon, died at 5:15 a.m. today, Dec. 20, 1986, at Jersey Community Hospital. Born in Goodlan, Ind., the daughter of the late William C. and Anna Mabelle (Clairmont) Tice, she was a school teacher in the Unit 100 School District for 18 years, retiring in 1958. She married LaVern Davenport on Feb. 1, 1929 in Jerseyville. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1981. Surviving are five sons, Leslie Lavern and Gary Leon, both of Jerseyville, Donald Ray of Beckemeyer, Herbert Lee of Macon, Ga., and James David of Fieldon; one daughter Marilyn Kay Pruitt of Fieldon; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchilden; and one brother, Clarence Tice of Anderson, Ind. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Funeral services will be at p.m. Monday at Gospel Assembly Church in Jerseyville. Burial will be in Fieldon Cemetery and memorials may be given to the Fieldon First Baptist Church of which she was a member. Mrs. Alice Mae Russell Died 08-09-1952. Mrs. Alice Mae Russell, 62, wife of Justus Russell, died August 9 in Nutwood. The daughter of Benjamin & Susan (Davenport) Kirchner and born in Jersey County, August 16, 1889. She leaves her husband, 2 sons, Everett and Earl Russell of Fieldon, 1 daughter, Mrs. Hazel Ayers of Fieldon, 5 grandchildren, 3 brothers, Ed Kirchner of Jerseyville, Elmer Kirchner of Kane, George Kirchner of Fieldon, 2 sisters, Mrs. Adolph Wahl and Mrs. Parker Collins preceded her in death. Justus Russell Died 11-1968. Justus Russell, 77 years, 4 months, 10 days, of 2146 State St., Granite City, died at 8:45 pm Friday at Alton Memorial hospital, where he had been a patient for 2 weeks. The former western Jersey County farmer was the son of the late Reuben & Martha (Hand) Russell. He was born in Greene County, June 21, 1891 and was a member of the Assembly of God church here. His survivors are his wife, Rev. Olivia Y. Russell; 1 daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Hazel) Ayres, Fieldon; 1 son, Earl Russell; 5 grandchildren; 11 g-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Charles, George, and Harold Russell of Jerseyville, and Paul Russell of Carrollton; 1 sister Mrs. Pearl McGowen of Jerseyville; 1 step-son, Jack Hous of Keokuk, IA, and 1 step-daughter, Mrs. Robert Haynes of Granite City. Earl A. "Heavy" Russell Earl A. "Heavy" Russell, 88, died at 6:43 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2005, in the emergency room at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville. Born Dec. 16, 1916, in Jersey County, he was the last surviving child of Justus and Alice (Kirchner) Russell. He married the former Esther Linenfelser on Sept. 3, 1939, in St. Charles, Mo., and the two have shared the last 65 years together. A lifelong farmer, he farmed 375 acres in and around Nutwood and part of Greene County for many years and lived in Nutwood until the flood of 1993 prompted their move to higher ground in Fieldon. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Linda Russell of Godfrey; three grandchildren, Tanya Russell of Godfrey, Dr. Trent and his wife, Julie, Russell of Eldon, Mo., and Todd and his wife, Jennifer, Russell of Godfrey; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Hazel Ayres; and a brother, Everett Russell. Private family memorial services will be held today. His body has been donated for medical research. Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hazel Mae Ayres Hazel Mae Ayres, 81, died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Jersey Community Hospital inJerseyville. She was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Jersey County, one of three children born to Andrew Justice and Alice (Kirchner) Russell. With the exception of working at Jersey Community High School for a few years, she enjoyed being a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She married Ralph Ayres on Dec. 10, 1938, in St. Charles, Mo., and they shared nearly 44 years together before his death April 20, 1982. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Naomi and Lambert Hagen of Jerseyville and Patricia Phillips of Taylorville, Ill.; six grandchildren, Vicki Turvey of Taylorville, Sue Cates of Fieldon, Jeff Phillips of Newburg, Md., Ryan Phillips of Taylorville, Tony Hagen of Jerseyville and Holly Karsteter of Covington, Ky.; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Earl Russell of Fieldon. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard A. Phillips, and a brother, Everett Russell. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Crawford Funeral Home (Jacoby Chapel) in Jerseyville, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday. Cain Services for Archie Albert Cain, 66, who died at his residence, R. 1, Fieldon, at 1:40 a.m., Nov. 14, 1982, were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Open Door Fellowship Church in Jerseyville. he Revs. Wilbur Cain and A. J. Maggos officiated He was born July 1, 1916 in Potosi, Mo., a son of John and Julie (Jackson) cain. He retired in 1976 as an operating engineer out of local 520. His survivors are his wife, the former Lorene DeClue; four sons, Robert and Rev. Wilbur Cain of Jerseyville, Charles Cain of Carrollton and the Rev. Glenn Cain, Fieldon; five daughters, Erma Baker, Hollywood, Md., Geraldine Davenport, Dow, Dorothy Dunham, Jerseyville, Rose Chapman, Fieldon, Barbara Travers, Brighton. Also surviving are five brothers, Noah, Clifford, Harry, Henry and Hunky, all of Potosi, Mo.; and a sister, Estelle Drennen, Mineral Point, Mo. Mrs. Gladys Naomi Stemmler Mrs. Gladys Naomi Stemmler, 90, of Fieldon, died Saturday, April 24, 1999 At Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home. Born Jan. 15, 1909 in Hardin, she was the daughter of Joshua "Wad" and Hettie (Blackorby) Plummer. After her mother's death eight days later, she was raised in the Rosedale area by her father, and her late stepmother, Melvina (Blackorby) Plummer. She married Theodore H. Stemmler Jne 2, 1929 in Jerseyville and he died July 15, 1970. Surviving are one daughter, Betty Duggan of Fieldon; one son, Don Stemmler of Vero Beach Fl.; One sister Viola Stock of East Alton; Seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; dear friends, Katie, Terri and Tim. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Reed and Esther Belle Dabbs; three brothers, Paul, Mike and Emuel Plummer; one daughter-in-law, Ellen Stemmler. Born October 23, 1901 (Harry and Herbert were twins), to the late Fred & Maggie (Dabbs) Frazer. He was in the ministry for 52 years in Jersey & Greene counties and 26 years at Gospel Assembly. Galore John W Galore, 68, a farmer of the Fieldon vicinity, died December 31, 1979 at Jersey County Memorial hospital. He was born July 11, 1911 in Arcola, a son of William & Electa (Green) Galore and married Mary (Hutchins) Galore on February 14, 1934. Surviving are his wife, Mary; 1 brother, James Galore of Fieldon; 1 niece and 2 nephews. Services were held at Jacoby Brothers funeral home in Jerseyville. Mrs. Mildred Galore MILDRED GALORE, ROSEDALE – Mildred Dean Galore, 87, died at 1:25 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014, at her home in Rosedale Township. She was born in Madison County on April 4, 1927, one of five children born to the late Raymond and Eva (Reynolds) Flatt. A graduate of Calhoun High School, Mildred continued her education at Shurtleff College in Alton where she earned her degree in education and began teaching at various one room school houses throughout the area. She later married James Galore on February 28, 1947 in Jerseyville and the two were blessed with many wonderful years together and shared in the joys of raising their three children. Mildred spent her life working to give to others, opening up not only her home, but her heart to all. She was dedicated to her family and instilled in them, by example, the importance of hard work and compassion. She worked various jobs throughout her life, including time spent at Olin Brass, Nugent & Schapansky, Eagletonke as well as jobs working in the area orchards. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed canning and her most notable hobby, quilting. She put her love and prayers in everything she did and every stitch she sewed. The hundred of quilts she made throughout her life are still cherished by the many people whose lives she touched. Surviving are her three children, Nelson and his wife Candice Galore of Grafton; Charles Galore of Rosedale; Alsia Galore and her companion, Thomas Tucker of Rosedale; seven grandchildren, Pamela (Rodney) Large of Carrollton; Melanie Wright and her companion, Bill Connell of East Hardin; William Galore and his companion, Terry Slaten of Grafton; Andres (James) Gresham of Jerseyville; JoAnn Galore and her companion, Josh Young of Jerseyville; Marcie (Travis) Rogers of Riverton; Michelle Noble and her companion, Buddy Daniels of Kampsville; 16 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Richie, Reanna, RaeLeigh, Emily, Kendra, Karena, Aliyah, Kayla, Brooklynn, Nytiah, Jaya, Logan, Isaac, Kenyon and Gabryel; one great-great granddaughter, Anya; a sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Bert Schaaf of Fieldon; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mrs. Lilly Marie Honey Jerseyville 07/05/2012 - Lilly Marie Honey, 77, formerly of Kane, died at 8:05 a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Eldred on June 7, 1935, one of five children born to the late Raymond James and Irene (Reynolds) Flatt. Lilly graduated in 1952 from Hardin High School, and was employed in the health care industry for many years, serving as a LPN at various nursing homes, including Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville. She married James Roy Honey on June 21, 1953 at the Salvation Army Chapel in Alton, and together they shared nearly 52 years together before his death on Jan. 20, 2005. Surviving are a son & daughter in law, Andy & Edna Honey of Oklahoma City, Ok.; five daughters & sons in law, Susan M. & Joseph Neil Tate of Springfield, Neva R. & Paul M. Noble of Dow, Barbara E. & Eddie T. Sallee of Francis, Ok., Kathleen A. & Alejandro Ramirez of Dayton, Or., Edith I. Motter, 81, died at 2:10 pm Thursday, February 6, 1986, at Christian hospital northeast in St. Louis County. Born in Chicago, son of the late Edward and Mary (Coleson) Motter, he married the former Charlotte "Lottie" Rosenthal on May 4, 1928, in Chicago. He owned and operated a grocery store in Fieldon for 25 years. Surviving are his wife; one son, Frank of Fieldon; two Daughters, Jean Schmieder of Jerseyville and Mary Fackler of Elsah; one sister, Dorothy Ponstein of Downers Grove; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Earl Raymond Fraley Earl Raymond Fraley, 74, a rural Jerseyville resident and former member of the Jersey County Board of Supervisors for 12 years, died suddenly at his home on January 8, 1969. Visitation was held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Services were held at Fieldon United Church of Christ. Rev. Leonard Todd of Moro officiated and burial was in Fieldon cemetery. Though Mr. Fraley and been ill for several years, his death was unexpected. Mr. & Mrs. Fraley had been in Jerseyville Wednesday afternoon and upon returning to their home he said he would rest before the evening meal. His breathing attracted Mrs. Fraley's attention and she summoned help. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Jersey Community hospital. A son of the late Theodore C. & Rachel (McDanel) Fraley, the former official of Otter Creek township, was born in Montgomery County. He was engaged in farming for many years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Effie (McDow) Fraley; 1 daughter, Mrs. Bertha Hearty of Jerseyville; 4 sons, Stewart Fraley of Fieldon, Stanley and Wilbert Fraley of Jerseyville and Leland Fraley of Carrollton; 19 grandchildren; 7 g-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Warren Fraley of East Alton, Frank Fraley of Litchfield, Lewis Fraley of Chicago, and Estel Fraley of Carrollton. 1 brothers, Mark preceded him in death. Stewart Fraley Stewart Fraley, 85, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Sept. 12, 1916, in Alton. He was the son of the late Earl and Effie (McDow) Fraley. He married Helen L. White on Dec. 27, 1939, in St. Charles, Mo. She died March 3, 1995. He was a lifelong farmer and also worked with the Illinois Department of Transportation for 11 years. He was a member of Fieldon United Church of Christ and Fieldon Masonic Lodge 592. Surviving are a sister, Bertha Vogler of Jerseyville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilbert and Violet Fraley and Stanley and Maurita Fraley, all of Jerseyville, and Leland and Theresa Fraley of Carrollton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Dora Ann Goeman Dora Ann Goeman, 82, of R1, Fieldon was dead on arrival at Jersey County Memorial hospital on May 30, 1972. She was born November 1, 1890 in Jersey county the daughter of George & Katherine (Lenz) Hetzel. Her husband was the late P F Goeman. She is survived by 1 Son, Henry E Goeman of Fieldon; 1 daughter, Mrs Charles (Catherine) Briggs of Jerseyville; 3 grandchildren; 4 g-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Miss Irene Hetzel of Jerseyville and Mrs Hazel Drainer of Vandalia, Mo; and 5 brothers, Joseph, John, and Ernest Hetzel of Fieldon, and Earl Hetzel of Staunton. Her parents, 1 sister, 2 brothers and her husband preceded her in death. Mrs. Alberta Cope Died 27-03-1989. Alberta Cope, 87, of Fieldon died March 27, 1989 at the Jersey Community Hospital. She was born Nov. 6, 1901 in Fieldon to the late Russell and Alice Ridenour. She was married to the late Wesely Cope. He died in February, 1964. She was a member of the Fieldon United Church of Christ in Fieldon. Surviving is one son, Glenn W. Cope of Fieldon. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Services for Troy Cope, 46 year old Fieldon resident, were held Saturday afternoon at half past one o'clock at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Todd of Moro officiating. Interment was in the Fieldon Cemetery. Visitation hours were held at the Funeral Home. Mr. Cope, a machine adjuster at Olin Mathieson in East Alton, died December 11 at Eunice Smith Home in Alton where he had resided for ten days. He was a son of Ward Cope and the late Mrs. Ella Meinsinger Cope and was born in Jersey County August 24, 1922. Surviving him in addition to his father are three sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Wisnasky of Ocean Springs, Miss., Mrs. James Weaver and Mrs. Mary Bell Seehausen of Fieldon, two brothers, Ivan Cope of Cottage Hills. His mother, one sister, Theresa, and one brother, Vernon, preceded him in death. Raymond Frederick (Sparky) Gerson Raymond Frederick (Sparky) Gerson, 60, died April 18, 1975 at St. Mary hospital in St. Louis following an extended illness. A feed salesman, he was born April 11, 1915 in Richwood township, Jersey county, a son of Fred & Anna (Krueger) Gerson. He was a member of Fieldon Masonic Lodge, Jerseyville Moose Lodge and had been treasurer of the Fieldon Business Booster Club for 20 yrs. He was a member of Fieldon United Church of Christ. Surviving are his widow, Irene (Busch) Gerson; 1 son, Gary Gerson of Alton; 1 daughter, Renee Gerson, Fieldon; and 2 sisters, Mrs Lawrence (Ruth) Erwin of Fieldon and Mrs Verne (Mildred) Williamson of Alton. Visitation was held at Jacoby Brothers funeral home in Jerseyville. Masonic services were conducted Sat eve. Mrs. Emma Whitlock Emma Whitlock, 78, died May 12, 1991 at Jersey Community hospital. She had been a checker for Tri-City Grocery Store, Jerseyville. Born in Fidelity Township on June 1, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Samuel & Jessie (Watson) Freeman. On January 3, 1929, in Carrollton, she married Arnold Whitlock. He died on April 2, 1960. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death and her only survivors are nieces and nephews. Visitation was from Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Services were held there and burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Arthritis Foundation. Dated 4/14/66: Mrs. Tillie Andris Morrison of Fieldon died at seven-thirty o'clock Monday morning at Waters Nursing Home in Jerseyville where she had been a patient the past five days. Friends may call a Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 o'clock this (Thursday) afternoon at the United Church of Christ in Fieldon. Rev. Leonard Todd, former pastor of the church, will officiate and burial will be in Gunterman cemetery. Mrs. Morrison, a lifelong resident of Jersey County, was born January 30, 1879, a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Bernius Andris. Her husband, George H. Morrison, preceded her in death. Surviving Mrs. Morrison are three sons, Sylvester of Jerseyville, and Lawrence and Bert of Fieldon; one daughter, Mrs. Herschel (Lida) Medford of Fieldon; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Antrae of Jerseyville and Mrs. Bertha Sprich of Alton. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were her parents, three brothers and one sister. George Bert Morrison George Bert Morrison, 81, died at 11:24 am Monday, April 22, 1991 at Hamilton Memorial hospital in Mcleansboro. He was a retired farmer. Born in Fieldon on September 25, 1909 he was the son of the late George H. and Tillie (Andris) Morrison. He married the former Vivian M. Willis on November 26, 1954 in Hernando, Miss. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Charlene Pohlman of Granite City; two grandchildren; two great-grand children; and a Sister, Lida Medford of Fieldon. Preceding him in death were a son, dennis Morrison; and two brothers, Sylvester and Lawrence Morrison. Visitation is from 4 to 9 pm Wednesday at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services are at 10 am Thursday. The Rev. Rick Francis will officiate. Burial is in Oak Grove cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the United Church of Christ of Fieldon, where he was a member. Lawrence Morrison Undated article, Lawrence Morrison: Died June, 1986. He was born September 6, 1906, in Jersey County to the late George and Tillie (Andrus) Morrison. He married Marjorie Harmon on February 16, 1935 in Marion. He was a farmer and a member of the Fieldon United Church of Christ. He served on Community Unit No. 100 school board from 1948 to 1954 and on the Farm Bureau Board, Nutwood Drainage and Levee District and Farmers Livestock Association. He was a trustee of Gunterman cemetery, Noble of Illini Shriners (Ainad Temple) and a past master of Fieldon Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Fieldon; Sons Gary of Fieldon and George of Taylorville; daughters Janet Gilworth and Connie Parsell both of Jerseyville, Karen Heitzig of Alton, Barbara Scott of Kirkwood, Missouri, Carol Vogel of Creve Coeur, Missouri, Beverly Phillips of Godfrey and Patricia Morrison of Florissant, Missouri; brother Bert Morrison of Jerseyville; sister, Lida Medford of Fieldon; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a granddaughter. Visitation and Masonic services were June 11 at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. The funeral was June 12 there with the Rev. Jean Erb officiating. Burial was in Gunterman cemetery. Mrs. Connie Sue Parsell 01/12/2002 -- Connie Sue Parsell, 58, died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis County. Born Sept. 23, 1943, in Alton, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence F. and Marjorie (Harmon) Morrison. She was reared on the family farm near Fieldon and graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1961 and attended Southern Illinois University. She married Gene Parsell Nov. 20, 1965, at the Fieldon United Church of Christ, and they enjoyed 36 years together. A homemaker, she enjoyed being at home with her family and grandchildren, and, in her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking and playing cards. In addition to her husband, surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Clara and Dr. Nizar Assi of Town and Country, Mo., and Julie Parsell of St. Louis; four grandchildren, Tara, Talia, Sami and Grace Assi; a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Joyce Morrison of Fieldon; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Richard Gilworth of Jerseyville, Barbara and Sam Scott of Kirkwood, Mo., Carol and Tom Vogel of Creve Coeur, Mo., Beverly Phillips, Karen and Pat Heitzig, all of Alton, and Patricia and Bob Wietzel of Ardmore, Tenn.; and a sister-in-law, Beverly Morrison of Taylorville. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Morrison. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fieldon United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Gunterman Cemetery, near Fieldon. Fosha, 77, of Beardstown was dead on arrival at Beardstown hospital on April 18. Services were held April 21, at Gospel Tabernacle with Rev. Harry Frazer and Rev. Roy Allen of the Hannibal, MO Gospel Tabernacle officiating. Burial was in White cemetery in the Union forest vicinity, Jersey Co. Harry Rexford Fosha Jr. Harry Rexford Fosha Jr., 27 years, 4 months, 9 days, of Meredosia, formerly of Jerseyville died May 14, at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield where he had been a patient for 10 days. He had been in ill health for several years. Fr. Fosha was born in Jerseyville January 5, 1929, a son of Rev. Harry R. Fosha Sr., & Faye (Matthews) Fosha of Meredosia. Surviving are his parents; 1 sister, Mrs. Martin Vanhyning, Denver, CO; and his grandmother, Mrs. Lloyd Powers. Funeral services were held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville, May 16. Rev. Howard Bushnell of Shawnee, OK, officiated and interment was in White cemetery. Mrs. Pearl L. Daves 02/21/97-Pearl L. Daves, 87, died Feb. 21, 1997. Her husband, Joe, preceded her in death. Surviving are sons, Junior and the Rev. Aldred Daves, both of Godfrey, Herschel of Labadie, Mo., Leonard of Ellisville, Mo., and Gary of Cattawissa, Mo.; daughters, Jane Goff and Betty Henderson, both of Jerseyville, Rosemary Esparza of Alton, Verlene Hicks of Godfrey, Florence Klein of Grafton, and Melba Bick of Kane; brothers, Floyd Hale of Phoenix, Az., and Donald Hale of East Alton; sisters, Louise Hale of Godfrey, and Edith Allison of Gindley, Ca.; and 29 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. Services were through Gent's. Memorials may be given to Gospel Tabernacle in Godfrey. Mrs. Frances M. Rittenhouse 05/26/01-Frances M. Rittenhouse, 97, formerly of Godfrey, died May 26, 2001, in Orchard Manor in Lancaster, Wi. Her husband, Ralph, preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Ronald of Cassville, Wi.; and sisters, Norine Moreland of Rushville, and Eva Ashbaker of East Alton. Services were in the Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville. Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army in Alton. Mrs. Gladys Springman 05/21/2006 -- Gladys Springman, 96, died at 10:13 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2006, at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville. She was born Jan. 4, 1910, in Jersey County to Oscar and Nola May (White) Henson. She married John W. Springman on Dec. 26, 1931, in Jerseyville. He died April 19, 1965. She had been a member of the Union Forest Church in Jerseyville. Survivors include one son, Stanford Springman of Jerseyville. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Roger Springman; one grandson, Eric Springman; and one sister, Georgia Warner. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m Monday at Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Charity Christian Center, both in Jerseyville. The Rev.
