He married Susan Davenport, the daughter of Absalom and Mary (Dabbs) Davenport. She was born 3-18-1860, and died 5-23-1940. She is also buried in the Noble Cemetery. They had 9 children-Elmer Benjamin Kirchner, Edward Kirchner, George Kirchner, Emma Kirchner, Nellie Kirchner, Rosetta Kirchner, Louise Kirchner, Margaret Kirchner, and Alice Kirchner. (1) Benjamin and Susan (Davenport) Kirchner's son Elmer Benjamin Kirchner was born in June 1885 in Jersey County, IL, and died in Feb. 1965 in Jersey County, IL. He married Rosa L. Springman, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Seago) Springman. She was born 10-14-1890 in Jersey County, IL, and died 6-19-1931 in Jersey County, IL. They Lived in the rural Grafton, IL area. Weller's obituary - Harvey J. Weller, 67, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at his residence. Born Oct. 30, 1942, in Kane, he was the son of Jess and Thelma (Kirchner) Weller. He married Sharon Herring and she survives. He served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Laclede Steel in the warehouse, and retired in 2001. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Sharon, include two daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Bob Burnham of Bethalto, Melissa and Tim Phillips of East Alton; four grandchildren, Bradley and Austin Hartmann, Tim Jr. and Taylor Nicole Phillips; a great-grandchild, Gracelyn Phillips; three brothers, Bill Weller of Jerseyville, Clete Weller of Peoria and Rick Weller of Ohio; three sisters and a brother- in-law, Jeanette and David Strack of Wood River, JoAnn Shain of Jerseyville and Maize Bridgeman of Jerseyville. He was born in Kane on Jan. 9, 1945, and was the son of Jesse Lee and Thelma Marie (Kirchner) Weller, now deceased. Surviving are two brothers, Cletus Weller of Peoria and Rick Weller of Indiana; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mazie Bridgeman and Joann Shain, both of Jerseyville, and Jeanette and David Strack of Wood River. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Julius, Benjamin "Lin," James, Jesse Jr. and Harvey Weller. Kirchner, 87, died at 4:25 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville. He was born in Jersey County on May 6, 1925 the son of the late Elmer Benjamin & Rosa (Springman) Kirchner. Earl grew up and was raised in rural Kane, and attended the Kane Baptist Church, and enjoyed riding his bicycle around town. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Lester, Henry, Paul & William Kirchner; and three sisters, Rosemary Taylor, Thelma Weller, and Ella Hardy. Visitation will be conducted from 1 p.m., Tuesday until time of funeral services at 2 p.m., at the Kane Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chuck Keene officiating. He is buried in Hardin Cemetery, Calhoun County, IL. He married Lorraine Poore 11-3-1942 in St. Charles, MO. They had 4 children-Thomas Kirchner of Jerseyville, IL, Betty Kirchner of Blytheville, Arkansas, Rhonda (Kirchner) Manski of Murrayvile, PA, and Deanne (Kirchner) Wood of Marion, Indiana. --------- Elmer and Rosa (Springman) Kirchner's son Paul Edward Kirchner's obituary - Paul Edward Kirchner, 72, died at 9 am Monday, 11 July 1988 at St. Louis University hospital. Kirchner had been a custodian for Pere Marquette Lodge in Grafton. Born in Jerseyville, he was the son of the late Elmer and Rosa (Springman) Kirchner. He married the Former Lorraine Poore in St. Charles, Missouri, on 3 November 1942. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Betty Kirchner of Blytheville, Arkansas., Rhonda Manski of Murrysville, Pennsylvania, and Deanne Wood of Marion, Indiana; a son, Thomas Kirchner of Jerseyville; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Weller of Jerseyville and Rosemary Taylor of Wood River; and a brother, Earl Kirchner of Kane. Born on April 23, 1928, in Brussels, the son of the late Thomas Jefferson "Pat" and Laura (DeLaney) Poore. He married Rheta A. (Warren) Poore on April 15,1950, in Hardin and she survives. He was a L.P truck driver of many years. He drove for Gilberts Carrage House before retiring. He was a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin. Kirchner, 59, of Grafton will be conducted at 2 pm on 2 September at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Grafton. Burial will be in the Scenic Hill cemetery. Skinner's obituary - Troy P. Skinner, 97, died Monday, March 25, 2013, at Friendship Home in Carlinville. Troy was born April 4, 1915, in Fieldon, Ill., to Pearl and Beulah (Miller) Skinner. He married his wife Neva Brannan on Dec. 22, 1934, in Carrollton, Ill. Mr. Skinner was a journeyman machinist working for Owens Illinois Glass Co. for 35 years. He also farmed for many years. Troy enjoyed gardening, fishing and antiquing. He was the epitome of a hard-working man. Troy was active in The Masons Lodge, The Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow Award), an elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Jerseyville and a Trustee of the Federated Church in Carlinville. Surviving are his wife, Neva; son, Jerry Skinner of Aurora, Ill.; daughters, Beulah Mertens of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Joyce Winger of Kansas City, Mo., and Helen (Tom) Ochs of Bloomington, Ill.; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. Skinner, 95, died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Friendship Home in Carlinville. She was born Jan. 26, 1918, to Luther and Bernice (Staats) Brannan. Neva married Troy Skinner Dec. 22, 1934, in Carrollton, Ill. Neva is preceded in death by her parents, husband and her sister, Lily Barbour. Mrs. Skinner was a member and an elder at the Federated Church of Carlinville, a past president of the Carlinville Women's Club, and a dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and loved gardening. Surviving are her son, Jerry Skinner of Aurora, Ill.; daughters, Beulah Mertens of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Joyce Winger of Kansas City, Mo., and Helen (Tom) Ochs of Bloomington, Ill.; two sisters, Jean Ansell and Eveline Schmieder of Jerseyville; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great-grandchild. (Skinner) Schloeman's obituary - Mary L. (Skinner) Schloeman, 87, died at midnight on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at the Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Jersey County on Feb. 16, 1926, one of five daughters born to the late John and Sophia (Ontis) Skinner. She was married to Robert Schloeman for many years before his death in 1980. Surviving are a daughter and a son in law, Linda and Gary Lane of Arnold, Mo.; a granddaughter, Christy Lane of Fenton, Mo.; a sister, Betty Ritter of Jerseyville; along with numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece Sharon (Watts) Drainer of Godfrey, who lovingly cared for her through the years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Harvey, Thelma Watts and Berniece Tonsor. (Skinner) Ritter's obituary - JERSEYVILLE — Betty J. Ritter, 84, passed away at 5:55 a.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a period of declining health. Betty was born in rural Jersey County on March 6, 1933, one of five daughters born to John and Sophia (Ontis) Skinner. She graduated in 1951 from Jersey Community High School, and nearly six months later married the love of her life, Robert Joseph Ritter on Dec. 1, 1951. Bob soon entered the service, and Betty accompanied him wherever he was sent, with the exception of a brief stint overseas. Upon his honorable discharge, they returned to their hometown of Jerseyville, and soon began a family that would consist of four strong, independent daughters. In addition to being an amazing wife and mother, Betty also held various jobs throughout her lifetime as she assisted in the office of the law firm of Suddes and Davis, East Elementary, and worked as a teller for many years as a teller at the Jersey Savings and Loan, all of which were in Jerseyville. Betty was of the Catholic faith, and was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, and always found time for a good card game. In fact, every Thursday afternoon you could find her at Westlake, and of course her daily five o'clock martini that she shared with her husband every day. She and Bob were blessed with a loving family and a wonderful life together, and after nearly 58 years of marriage, he passed away on Sept. 8, 2009. She is survived by her four daughters and two sons-in-law, Pamela Huff and Patricia Ritter, both of Jerseyville, Penny and Joseph Iantria and Polly and John Rucker all of Naperville; four grandchildren who were the apple of her eye, and provided her with much joy and pride, Breanna Rucker, and her companion, Halen Clark of Morgantown, Kentucky, Broc Rucker of Naperville, Jaclyn Iantria of Los Angeles, California, and Nicholas Iantria, a student at the University of Kansas; a beautiful great-granddaughter, Lilly Clark; and a very special and devoted friend, Sharon Shanks of Jerseyville. In addition to her parents, and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ronald Huff; and her four sisters, Thelma Watts, Doris Harvey, Mary Scholeman and Berniece Tonsor. She later worked for several years in the law office of Bill Vogt. Marilyn later worked for Farmers State Bank in Medora, IL as a loan officer for several years and later became Chief Executive Officer of the bank. Marilyn attended the Rural Methodist Church in Carlinville. She enjoyed staying busy and enjoyed sewing, making baskets, reading and knitting. She especially enjoyed horses in her earlier years. Karen graduated in 1974 from Jersey Community High School, and would soon marry Richard "Rick" Hoyt on April 12, 1975 at the Otterville Southern Baptist Church. Their marriage was blessed with their three children, and Karen remained home to care for them. After her children were older, her caring nature led her to the nursing field, where she graduated in 1990 from Lewis & Clark Community College School of Nursing. For many years, she proudly worked in the OB department at Jersey Community Hospital, and in her spare time enjoyed playing bunco with her group of close knit friends, and always searching for something that she could add her "creative touch". Those that knew here well, also could attest to her love of anything, "Wizard of Oz". Kirchner, deceased, settled in Jersey county at an early day, having come from Germany to America in 1835. He was born in Germany, Jan. 16, 1816, and was 17 years old when he immigrated to this country. He landed at New Orleans, and immediately started for St. Louis, but on account of the river being frozen over, was six months making the trip. He remained in St. Louis for a time, then came to Jersey county, where he resided until his decease, Dec. 11, 1881. At the time of his death he owned 365 acres of land, and was in prosperous circumstances. He was married June 27, 1823 to Elizabeth Thurston, who died Sept. 13, 1865. They had 12 children, eight of whom are now living: George B., Gottfried, William W., Charles R., Clarissa C., Valentine H., Otha O., L. H., and Ulysses C. Nov. 1, 1871 Mr. Kirchner was married to Maria C. Becker, who survives him. By this union there were four children: William H., Henry L., Anna and Emelia. A 22 year old one time garage worker is being held by Denver police in connection with the tragedy. Vanausdoll was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Allen Laverne Vanausdoll of Shipman. He was born at Otterville and resided there until he was about two years old when the family moved to Alton. Mrs. Vanausdoll, her daughter, Mrs. Damon Helmontoler of Peoria, her sister, Mrs. Annabell Quinn of Jerseyville, and mother, Mrs. John Ortlieb of Alton, returned Tuesday from Denver where they had gone after receiving word of the incident. The body of Mr. Vanausdoll is at Staten Funeral Home in Alton where visitation was held. The Methodist church in Shipman was the scene of the funeral and burial was in Shipman cemetery. Vanausdoll and his wife, Edna (Easter) Vanausdoll, and their children had resided in Denver for about a year. He was an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad in Denver, and had previously been an engineer and a switchman for the Illinois Terminal Railroad in Alton. According to reports Vanausdoll was killed by a charge from a shotgun fired as he approached a car in front of his southeast Denver home. The victim's widow, Edna, 28, was reportedly being held for investigation. According to Denver police, the man in custody and Vanausdoll's wife admitted to carrying on a romance. The victim was a veteran of the Korean conflict having served 4 years. He is the holder of the Bronze Star. She was a former member of Women of the Moose Chapter 82 and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. She married Morris M. Kirchner Aug. 17, 1942, in Edwardsville. He died May 17, 1999. His death followed an extended period of ill health. The family home was at 407 West Spruce Street. Mr. Kirchner was elected Sheriff of Jersey County in 1954 and served a four year term. He also served eight years as Deputy Sheriff during the regimes of Sheriff Herman H. Blackorby, Jr., and the late Sheriff C. E. Wedding. Mr. Kirchner was employed as radio operator for one year during the term of office of Sheriff Howard Perdun. In 1951, Mr. Kirchner was elected a member of the Jerseyville City Council and served as Commissioner of Public Property. He resigned the post in December, 1954, to assume his duties as sheriff. A resident of Jerseyville for twenty-seven years, Mr. Kirchner and his wife engaged in the grocery business for five years, and he also operated a filling station for a time. She was employed as a LPN at various nursing homes in the area, and was also employed at Wal-Mart in Jerseyville. She currently was involved as a sales representative for the Watkins Company. She married Gary Neal Powers on May 1, 1982, at the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville, and he survives. Also surviving are their son, Kenneth Neal Powers of Jerseyville; a sister, Kimberly; two brothers, Tim and Scott; and an aunt, Natalie Umphress of Carrollton. In addition to her parents, and her adoptive mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dabny. He married Helen Marie Day on June 21, 1942, at Mexico, Mo., and she survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Norma Maberry of Springfield, Donna (John) Carl of White Hall and Blanche (Brian) Cole of Greenfield; two sons, Ricky Kirchner of Angola, Ind., and Rodney Kirchner of White Hall. There are 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren surviving, along with a sister, Opal Little of Fieldon. He was preceded in death by a son, Albert "Sonny" Kirchner (wife, Karen survives near Patterson); three grandchildren; three brothers, Earl, Wilbur and Jim Kirchner; and four sisters, Kate Fundel. Jean Camerer, Avis Clark and Ione Hubbard. Albert was a mechanic for many years and had owned and operated an auto mechanics shop with his brother, Earl. He later worked as the main mechanic for Illinois Rural Electric Co. for over 20 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the White Hall First Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping and fishing, and spending many winters camping in Texas with his wife. He loved working with his hands, building things, woodworking, and always keeping busy. She was born in White Hall on May 29, 1930, the youngest of nine children born to the late Harold & Eva Kirchner. Opal married James Little Sr. in November of 1947 in Roodhouse, and together they have shared 63 years. The two of them began their life in Greene County, and moved from East Alton to the country of Fieldon in 1963 where they enjoyed raising their two sons in a rural environment, gardening and birdwatching. She formerly worked at Nesco Manufacturing in Jacksonville, and retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Factory in Alton, but prided herself on being a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her husband, James Little Sr. of Fieldon; two sons & daughters in law, James & Kathy Little Jr. of Collinsville, and George & Lisa Little of Fieldon; four grandsons, Shaun, Luke, Matthew, and Daniel; three great grandchildren, Cameron, Ginnie & Jillian; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Virginia "Ginnie" Little; four brothers and four sisters. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service to honor her life at 11 a.m. Friday at the Jones Cemetery in rural White Hall. He was born in Roodhouse on July 12, 1925, and was the son of George T. & Eva (Lawson) Little. James was raised in Roodhouse, and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to the area, and soon married the former Opal Kirchner in November of 1947 in Roodhouse. Together they began their life together in Greene County, and moved to the East Alton area to be closer to his employment at Laclede Steel Company in Alton. They soon moved to the rural area of Fieldon in 1963, where they enjoyed raising their two sons in a country environment, gardening and birdwatching, so much to the extent, that James named his farm "Bird Land Acres". James and Opal were blessed with 63 years together before her death on July 13, 2011. Charlotte's mother Elizabeth (Betsy) Cope, born January 1, 1811 in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina, died February 18, 1877. Elizabeth married Samuel Henson, born September 23, 1811 in Richmond County, Virginia, died February 18, 1892. Elizabeth married Samuel Henson June 21, 1833. Their daughter Charlotte Henson was born in June 1852, and died 5-8-1944. She is buried at Noble Cemetery, Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. Ellenbaum, nee Kirchner, of Chicago, a former Jersey County resident died Tuesday morning April 26 in Chicago. She was the widow of Frank Ellenbaum. Surviving Mrs Ellenbaum are one daughter, Miss Esther Ellenbaum and one son Frank Ellenbaum, Jr. and one grandson, Charles Ellenbaum all of Chicago and one brother Harry W. Kirchner of Otterville. She was sister of the late Lula K. Duncan. Funeral services were held in Chicago, Wednesday afternoon April 27. The body is at the Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville where friends may call after 2 o'clock this afternoon, Thursday, April 28. John Augustus Egelhoff, eighty-four year old retired superintendent of elementary schools of Jerseyville and a veteran of forty-three years in educational work, died at eight forty-five Sunday evening, Mar 4 at the Jersey Community Hospital. He had been hospitalized since suffering a stroke of paralysis on Feb 24. Mr Egelhoff retired as superintendent of the local elementary school nineteen years ago. Nearly all of his forty-three years in the education profession were spent in Jersey County where he taught a number of the rural schools, the Jerseyville High School, Grafton and the Jerseyville Grade School. Egelhoff, well-known Jerseyville florist and chairman of the Jerseyville Water Board died at seven-five o'clock at the Jersey Community Hospital where he was taken for treatment after suffering a sever heart attach at the family home west of Jerseyville an hour earlier. Mr Egelhoff, a son of the late J. August and Amelia Ann Kirchner Egelhoff, was born in Jersey County. His age at the time of death was 59 years, 3 months, and 28 days. He was educated in the Jerseyville schools and later attended the University of Illinois. he had been in the nursery business since the '30's. Mr Egelhoff was serving his third nine year term as a member of the Jerseyville Water Board and has held the chairmanship of the Board for a number of years. He was also instrumental in the organization of the Westlake Development Corp. which foster the Westlake Country Club, and through his knowledge of the nursery business he has given valuable assistance to the preparation and care of the greens on the golf course. The Jerseyville florist was a charter member of the Lions Club and served as one of its first presidents. He was a past worshipful master of Jerseyville Lodge A.F. and A.M. and was member of the First Baptist Church of Jerseyville. Other fraternal memberships were in the Elks and Moose Lodges of Jerseyville. Prior to the organization of Community Unit School Dist No 100, Jersey and Greene Counties, Mr Egelhoff served on the Board of Education of the Jerseyville Grade School for a number of years. At the time of his death he was serving as president of the Federal Land Bank Association of Carrollton. Rodger was born Jan. 28, 1936, in Jerseyville, the son of Ralph and Ruth (Heiderscheid) Egelhoff. He married the former Ann Morgan Finkeldey Aug. 20, 1955, in Perryville, Mo. He was the proud father of three children, Judy Beth Egelhoff of Alton, James (Alison) Egelhoff of Virgin Gorda, B.V.I., and Jerry (Linda) Egelhoff of Jerseyville. His eight grandchildren brought special joy to his life, Jake and Taylor Egelhoff, Olivia Hammond, Emily, Julia, Mark, Collin and Joshua Egelhoff. He is also survived by his brother, Tom (Janet) Egelhoff of Bozeman, Mont.; his sister-in-law, Judy Smith of Amherst, Mass.; and his brother-in-law, Michael (Mary) Finkeldey of St. Louis; cousins Richard (Jane) Egelhoff of St. Charles, Mo., Jan Heiderscheid (Ron) Smith of Stillwell, Kan., and Joseph Mercurio of Peoria. Also surviving are extended family members Mark Springman of Alton, Mick (Jenny) Cropp of Glasgow, Mo., and Lindsay Cropp (Jeremy) Massey of Columbia, Mo., and their families. He will also be missed by his wonderful nieces and nephews, who can all be considered as "favorites," and their friends that he enjoyed so much. Rodger graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1954. He was a prominent football, basketball and track athlete. He was especially proud that his record for most career points scored in basketball still stands. He went on to attend the University of Missouri, Columbia, on a basketball scholarship and was captain of the Tigers his senior year. Additionally, while at Mizzou, Rodger was honored to be inducted into the Mystical Seven Society. He returned to Jerseyville in 1958 and entered the family business, Egelhoff Floral Company, with his parents. He continued to be involved in the floral industry until his retirement in 1998, bringing to a close their 70-year history. In 1990, he was named to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame for outstanding achievement in Illinois Basketball. An avid golfer, he was able to enjoy every golfer's dream when he attended the Masters and later played Pebble Beach. He served as a member of the Jersey Community Hospital Board of Directors, was a past member of the Jersey Community Hospital Foundation Board, a member of the Jerseyville Elks Lodge 954 and Westlake Country Club. Per his wishes, Rodger's body has been donated to Washington University Medical School. The date for his memorial service and life celebration will be announced after family travel arrangements have been finalized. Egelhoff of St Louis whose death occurred at four forty-five Wednesday morning at Alexian Brothers Hospital in St Louis. The funeral cortege will come to Jerseyville from the Krieghauser Funeral Home in St Louis where services are to be held at nine o'clock tomorrow (Friday) morning. Friends may call at the Funeral Home this evening. Mr Egelhoff was the oldest son of the late Mr and Mrs J.A. Egelhoff of Jerseyville and at the time of death was fifty-four years old. His survivors are his wife, Patricia of St Louis; one son Richard C. of St Ann, Mo; one daughter, Mrs Roy McConkey of Kirkwood; four grandchildren; one brother, Ralph K. of Jerseyville and one sister, Mrs George Buterbaugh of New York City, who arrived in St Louis Wednesday. The decedent was employed in the sales department of Bridgeport Brass Company in Chicago for a number of years. Last spring when his health became impaired Mr and Mrs Egelhoff returned to St Louis to reside and he spent some time here with his brother and sister-in-law. She married Charles Gregg McDanel 10-21-1896 in Jersey County, IL. He was born July 7, 1869, a son of Charles Gregg McDanel and Amanda (Dabbs) McDanel. Charles Gregg McDanel and Anna Louise (Kirchner) McDanel had these children-Mamie Amelia McDanel (1897-1998), married a man who's last name was Krinard; Anna McDanel; Ethel Elizabeth McDanel (1900-2002); Georgana Louise McDanel born 1900; Charles G. McDanel Jr. born 1903; Louis H. McDanel; Edith A. McDanel (1901-1978), married Clarence Cornelius (1885-1953); Minnie McDanel; George C. McDanel; Marguerite McDanel; and Oliver McDanel. Charles and Anna (Kirchner) McDanel lost their farm after lightening hit the barn several times, causing the loss of the yearly income which had just been harvested. They retired to a little house in Dow, IL living off of the new Social Security program in the 30s. Times were tough then. Charles died 2-4-1945, and Anna died 2-2-1947. They are both buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, IL. She had been a secretary and office worker at Western Cartridge Olin in East Alton retiring in---. She was born in Alton. She was a daughter of the late Harvey and Ina Toten Calame. Her husband Oliver McDanel preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Gene McDanel of East Alton; a brother Ralph Calame of East Alton; and a sister Hazel Breitweiser of Jerseyville. She was preceded in death by a sister Lucille, and two brothers, Raymond and Wesley. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. today until service time at 2 p.m. at Crawford Holden Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Memorials may be to the donor's choice. ---------- Oliver McDanel's wife Ruth (Calame) McDanel's father Harvey Calame's obituary - Mar. 17, 1939 - Harvey Calame, 59, virtually a lifelong resident of Godfrey township where he had been a farm owner and farm-worker since youth, was found dead at 8:30 a.m. today near the home on the Jerseyvllle road opposite the Hawley farm where he had been residing alone. His body was found by A. T. Hawley and an employe, James Bowman, Deputy Coroner Klunk said, when they went to Calame's home to seek him. Calame had not been seen since last Thursday, the coroner was told, and although he sometimes left the place with relatives and friends, Hawley who employed him, became concerned lest he be ill. When Hawley and Bowman approached the Calame house, they observed his coat hanging near a woodpile In the back yard. Near at hand, they observed a saw. Calame was not in the house, and they started on a search of the yard and at edge of a field, perhaps 50 feet to the rear of the house, came on his body. Deputy Coroner Klunk expressed the belief that Calame might have paused to rest while sawing wood, and that he was fatally stricken as he walked to the rear of the premises. Klunk estimated he might have been dead for two days. An inquest will be held in an effort to determine- the exact cause of death. Surviving Caiame are three daughters, Mrs. William Schaaf of Jerseyvllle, Mrs. Oliver McDanel of Alton, and Mrs. Larry Haun of Jerseyville; and three sons, Harvey Calame of California, Wesley of Godfrey, and Ralph of Alton. Born Oct 7, 1897 in a log cabin near Fieldon, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Anna Kirchner McDanel. She was employed at Western Cartridge Co. in East Alton for a few years during World War I and was a member of Upper Alton Baptist Church and Alton Order of Eastern Star Chapter No 775. She married Albert R. Krinard in 1920 in Alton. He died March 1974. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law Jean and John M. Evanich of New Port Richey, Florida and Gloria Gay Krinard of San Diego; a son and daughter-in-law Roger M. and Willough Krinard of Mountain View; three grandchildren, Louise Janda cek of New Mexico, Sheila O'Connor of Wisconsin and Charles Kent Evanich of Florida; six great-grandchildren, Tatianna Dickens of New Mexico, Andrew and Antonya Jandacek of New Mexico, Ryan O'Connor of Wisconsin, and David and Mark Evanich of Florida, and a sister Ethel Johnson of Alton. He was born in Alton to Albert Roger and Mamie McDanel Krinard. He was of the Baptist faith, but after he retired and moved to Mountain View he attended First United Methodist. He served in the Army from August 1950 through August 1953. He attended Idaho State graduating in 1957 with a bachelors degree in forestry. He earned a masters degree in forestry from Yale University. He was employed as a research forester at the Southern Forest Experiment from 1957 until his retirement. After this he and his wife moved to Mountain View where they have enjoyed the mountain music and crafts of the area. He will be greatly missed by his family and freinds. Survivors include his devoted wife of 40 years, Willough Dean Krinard; two daughters, Gloria Krinard of Mountain View and Jean Evanich of Los Angeles; and one sister Ethel Johnson of Alton. (Kirchner) McDanel's son Louis H. McDanel's obituary - Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. McDanel of Dow received a telegram early today informing them of the death last evening of their son. Louis H. McDanel, 24, of Long Beach, Calif. The message gave no particulars other than to state that his death had been unexpected, and they were awaiting further Information today. Louis McDanel was born and reared at Dow, and had been residing in Long Beach since last February when he completed a four-year period of service In the U. S. Navy. He had been married last Dec. 22 to Miss Ethal Brannon of Seattle. Wash., and they had settled in Long Beach immediately after his discharge from naval service. Surviving McDanel besides his widow and his parents are three brothers. Charles G. McDanel. Jr., of Fairmount, W. Va., George C. who is In the Navy and stationed on the U. S. S. Arizona, and Oliver L., of Dow; and five sisters, Miss Anna McDanel of Lawrence, Kas., Mrs. Albert Krlnard and Miss Ethel McDanel of Alton, and Mrs. Clarence Cornelius and Miss Marguerite McDanel of Dow. Prior to enlisting In the navy, McDanel had been employed in Alton for a period of three years and made his home in this city during that period.
