Swedish fly tier, Mikael K'llberg, does not waste any words in the description of himself, but he doesn't have to. His flies speak for themselves. They are unique creations, yet have a particular European style, and they a beautifully tied. As is often the case, I think they also can be great crossover patterns for our North American Steelhead and Salmon fisheries. See his flies to see what I mean.
My name is Mikael K'llberg and I live in Sweden. I am 39 years old and have tied my own flies for about 18 years now. I love to tie my own Salmon, Seatrout and Spey flies. Most my flies are hairwings with fox hair and feathers and most of the fly patterns I tie are my own creations. I tie my flies on tubes, single and double hooks. When I fish my flies, I use my Hi-Level 14" foot and a Fenwick 9" foot.
With each fly, I attempt to improve my tying. My flies get better and better. I think that one reason for this, is that I use the best materials I can get for these patterns, but I also like to experiment with new materials. Most of the flies I tie are for sale.
Best Regards
Mikael K'llberg
