Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter extrodinaire and professional necromancer. What’s a necromancer you ask? Well, it’s a person who is able to raise the dead and to control them of course! Nothing strange about that. Right? WRONG! It’s pretty damn weird if you ask me. But that’s the way I like it. Nice and weird.

Anita stands about 5’3" tall, slender build, has dark curly hair, and a melange of awesome battle scars. She basically kicks the s&*t out of anyone who dares to cross her path, namely vamps, weres, ghouls, and your very occasional lamia. Normal run of the mill stuff. You know what else I like about her? She’s not above using heavy artillary and explosives when the need arises.

The Anita Blake series takes place (usually) in St. Louis Missouri (home of Laurell, too)(coincidence…I think not). It’s a time when vampirism is legal, and lycanthropy (werewolfdom) is a disease comparable to the AIDS virus. Anita the the legal vampire exocutioner (the electric chair never seems to work on vamps) for the tri-state area. But due to the nature of her work, she frequently does little jobs on the side that cops don’t know about…and don’t ask about. Lucky for Anita she has the Master vampire of city on her side (in her bed too!) to help her when things get a little too sticky. She also has a dorky werewolf boyfriend named Richard (sorry to all his fans, he just drives me nuts) who helps her when he gets the nerve.
