This was taken along the Altmuhltal River trail. It's a popular bike touring route for many of the local Germans. Most of the trail is very good and well marked. Parts of it are dirt but very well packed and easy to ride.
While leaving town the next morning I rode past this SMART Car display. That night I got as far as Straubing where I stayed at the hostel.
The next night I got to Passau which is just before the Austrian border. Three rivers meet here, the Ilz from the north, the Danube coming from the west and the Inn from the south. The old part of Passau is on a spit of land between the Danube and the Inn. The river in this picture separates Germany from Austria.
One of the side streets in Passau.
This picture was taken from the hostel on the hill above town. The road up is real steep!
It's mostly flat and the campgrounds are frequent. I stayed one night in Dollnstein and one night further down the river in Beilngries.
The Altmuhltal River empties into the Danube and within a few hours I was in Regensburg where I stayed one night at the campground
