The Hood River Bridge

From Hood River OR to the vicinity of Bingen WA

The Hood River was built circa 1926 as a toll bridge. It is still a toll bridge, now owned by the Port of Hood River OR. The draw span was added around 1940 after Bonneville Dam was completed.

The states of Oregon and Washington are studying the possibility of building a replacement bridge. The Washington State legislature added the bridge corridor to the state highway system as SR 35 with the provision that the existing bridge not be maintained as part of the state highway system. Oregon SR 35 ends at Jct I-84 a short distance south of the bridge.

This photograph was taken in September 2001 with Oregon in the foreground.
