The Vantage Bridge

I-90 Crossing the Columbia River at Vantage

The I-90 bridge at Vantage was opened to traffic in 1962. I-90 at this point was also designated as US 10 until 1969. The present bridge replaces the old Vantage Bridge. The old bridge was disassembled and moved to Lyons Ferry on the Snake River. The bridge at Lyons Ferry opened to traffic in 1968 and is part of SR 261.

The I-90 roadway was opened from the east end of the bridge up the hill toward the Town of George at the same time as the bridge. I-90 from Ellensburg to the interchange on the west side of the Vantage bridge opened to traffic in 1968. The photo was taken in 2001 facing east.
