The Beebe Bridge

US 97 from Beebe to Chelan Falls

The Beebe Bridge is an important link in the watergrade route between Wenatchee and the Okanogan Valley. The bridge was opened to traffic in 1963. It replaced an older susupension bridge. One of the steel reinforced concrete towers from the old bridge is visible in the photo. When first opened to traffic, the bridge was part of SSH 10D. The highway was renumbered SR 151 in 1964. The final section of the watergrade route was completed north of Chelan Falls in 1985. US 97 was moved to the watergrade route from Olds Station to Hugo in 1987. Former US 97 via Entiat and Chelan became Alternate US 97. A twin to the Beebe Bridge was built across the Snake River at Central Ferry in 1968 as part of SR 127.

The photo was taken in September 2001 from park southeast of the bridge.
