Secondary State Highway 1Z

SSH 1Z was added to the state highway system in 1953. This route began at Jct PSH 1 (US 99) between Bellingham and Ferndale and headed west to the Lummi Indian Reservation. 1955 legislation reworded the legal description of this highway but the basic route renamed the same. In 1964, SSH 1Z became posted as SR 540.
