Secondary State Highway 5M

SSH 5M was added to the state highway system in 1937. This route began at Jct PSH 5 (now Peasley Canyon Rd) on the west side of Auburn and headed northerly up the Green River Valley past the west side of Kent and through Tukwila, ending at Jct PSH 1 (US 99) south of Boeing Field. SSH 5M was transferred to SSH 2M in 1959. Also, the southern terminus ws shifted a fraction of a mile to Jct PSH 2 (now SR 18) whenn the first phase of PSH 2 (SR 18) opened to traffic from Federal Way to Auburn. PSH 5 from Federal Way to Auburn was dropped from the state highway system at the same time.
