SSH 15C was added to the state highway system in 1937. This route began at Jct PSH 15 (now US 2) in Leavenworth and headed northerly to Plain, then westerly to Lake Wenatchee State Park, then southerly to Jct PSH 15 (now US 2) north of Winton at what is now called Coles Corner. When the current state highway numbering system was first posted in January 1964, SSH 15C from Leavenwoth to Lake Wenatchee State Park became SR 209. SSH 15C from Lake Wenatchee State Park to Coles Corner became part of SR 207.
