MARY OVERTON
b u r k e , v i r g i n i a

"Overton's characters are so real, their actions so unguarded,
I felt I'd somehow stumbled unnoticed into their hall closet
and left the door ajar." ~ Linda Davis, co-publisher, Glimmer Train Stories
"Mary Overton's characters have traveled a few million miles
of hard road and gathered enough genuine life experience
to burn out your eye sockets and curdle your blood.
Trust me, she's got the goods."
~ Richard Peabody, co-editor of Mondo Barbie and Mondo James Dean

FROM THE inside back cover of The Wine of Astonishment: "Mary Overton has been writing for twenty-five years but only recently began publishing her stories. She has worked as a low-level government bureaucrat, as a house cleaner, and as a sales rep for encyclopedias, office furniture, and cable TV.
