FROM THE inside back cover of The Wine of Astonishment: "Mary Overton has been writing for twenty-five years but only recently began publishing her stories. She has worked as a low-level government bureaucrat, as a house cleaner, and as a sales rep for encyclopedias, office furniture, and cable TV. Currently she teaches fourth grade in Fairfax County, Virginia, where she lives with her husband and daughter."
