Inspired by WiccaCraft for Families by Margie McArthur
Start by decorating the perimeter of the Circle with flowers, blossoms, and greenery, and have baskets with ribbons and flowers and large candles in pastel flower shades at the four corners
The candles should be Dark Green for the North, Dark Red for the South, Deep Blue for West and Gold for East, the candles should remain unlit for the time being. Set up the altar as is most comfortable for your family.
Priestess/Mother:
"In the names above all names, And by the power of the Great Mother and Her Mighty Lord, I cast all influences and seeds of evil. I lay upon them the spell of power and holiness that they be bound fast as with chains and cast out into outer darkness, and bother not the servants of the Gods
Today I honor the Lord and Lady as I celebrate the fertility of the land, when the God and Goddess become as one."
Priest/Father:
"Let the dwellers of the far kingdoms be hailed!"
Face east and light the Gold Candle saying:
“Eastern realms! Land of the Sylphs,
Spirits
of the Air, of winds, storms and whirlwinds;
We summon you, lend of your
wisdom.
We invite you to our Beltaine rite.
Come! We bid you welcome!”
Face south and light the Dark Red Candle saying:
“Southern realms! Land of the Salamanders,
Spirits of the Fire, of blazing heat and burning light;
We summon you, lend
of your passion.
We invite you to our Beltaine rite.
Come! We bid you
welcome!”
Move to the West and light the Deep Blue Candle, saying:
“Western realms! Land of the Undines,
Spirits of
the Water, of sea, river and raindrop;
We summon you, lend of your
gentleness.
We invite you to our Beltaine rite.
Come! We bid you welcome!”
Face the North and light the Dark Green Candle and say:
“Northern realms! Land of the Gnomes,
Spirits of
the Earth, of the field, mountain and cave;
We summon you, lend of your
strength.
We invite you to our Beltaine rite.
Come! We bid you welcome!”
Priest/Father:
"There was a time when the earth did not live as She now does. What is now our home was but a great, writhing, formless pit. And in this pit, fires raged endlessly and unthinkable monsters held sway."
Priestess/Mother:
"And then stepped forward the Great Mother Goddess. She looked upon the pit of chaos and knew she must choose Her champion wisely."
Priest/Father
"Only one brave being stepped forward, and thus did the Great God of the Sun volunteer to champion the Great Goddess. He jumped into the pit and fought with the creatures of the dark, but he was not able to gain footing, for the pit was formless. It looked as though the dark would win."
Priestess/Mother:
"The Goddess stepped forward and took from Her own shoulders, Her cloak of great green and flowers. It was beautiful to behold. Without hesitation, She threw Her cloak over the fiery pit, and a firm foundation was laid. It continued to spread until it covered everything as far as the eye could see."
Priest/Father:
"With firm footing at last, the Great Sun Lord was able to defeat the monsters of the dark. He looked to the Goddess and felt love grow in His heart, and He joined with the Goddess in marriage. Together they created all life on Earth, and many worlds were born from their union."
Priestess and Priest together:
"Lady of the Earth, Lord of the Sun! We thank you for your presence among us, and the gifts that you have given us - the green earth, the radiant sun and for our lives!"
Priest/Father:
"Let us thank the dwellers of the far kingdoms and bid them farewell!"
