One of the biggest scams out there today is for a boiler room service to give out both sides of a game. They will build this game up, saying things like "there's no way this game is going to lose," or "We have key inside information that no one else has." (The true fact is "key inside information" rarely exists, and if it did these clowns wouldn't be sharing it with you. They are only in it for themselves.) They will continue to talk up this game until you're hooked and they have your money. Then they will give out their selection, either Team A or Team B, depending on the prior pick they gave out to the last sucker they reeled in. The winners will be happy and call back again. In the meantime these cons will be trying to reel in a new group.

This is done through ads or possibly your phone number is on a list. If one of these "salesmen" calls, please don't let them drag you in. Remember these guys are con-artists, they know what to say, it's their job. I have gotten calls before from services in Las Vegas. A fast talking salesman is telling me this game is so great. It sells for $500 on the strip, but I'll let you have it for $200. What a complete joke. Why do they need my money or anybody elses? Why not just bet the farm themselves and live happily ever after. Don't be afraid to tell these guys exactly what you think of them. They charge an outrageous price for these games without caring about the outcome of the game. All they want is your money.

If you ever get a call and the question "how much can you put down on a game?" is asked early in the conversation, hang up or have some fun and play along for awhile. The longer it goes, the more you can tell this guy is full of crap. At the end, tell him you're on to his scam and to buzz off. With a little thought, I'm positive you can probably tell him something even better.

As football season nears, you will see the rats come out of the woodwork. Just look in USA TODAY's sports section. During football season all you see at the bottom to the pages are phony and ridiculous ads, by these clowns trying to push their crap on you. There are some good ones, but most are phony.

    Here's some examples:
  • Last year I saw a guy have a Monday Night "Game of the Century", every week of the season. (Let's get real here, just how many Monday night games of the century can there be?)
  • I'm going 8-0 this weekend. (yeah right)
  • My 10,000 star lock of the year (just how much per star are you supposed to bet?)
  • Oh yeah, there's always the "I've got key inside information on this game (B.S.)
I don't care what anyone says, there are no "locks of the century", or "games of the century." Key inside information rarely exists, and certainly no one is going 8-0 every weekend.

The bottom line is, no matter what service you choose for your sports betting needs, try to make sure you find someone honest, reliable, affordable, and that will work for you. It's a long season and we'd like you to give us a try. We are dedicated to working for you. So good luck everyone, and stay clear of all the scams out there.
