Paul Hart began performing and doing dance exhibitions at
15, and as a teenager taught social dancing steps and formation dancing.
Paul studied several different types of dance in addition to Ballroom and
Latin including exhibition swing, square dancing, jazz and tap dancing, and
folk dancing. In college he danced with Carolyn Darrough, as one of the
original members of "The Moving Company," the modern dance troupe
at Bellevue Community College. After two years in Europe, Paul returned to
the United States to study at Brigham Young University, where he earned a
B.A. Degree in Physical Education, and the first Master of Arts Degree in
Ballroom Dance. At BYU, Paul danced with the World Champion Latin Formation
Team, and competed in individual and team competitions throughout the
Western United States and Canada.
Paul has worked extensively with both adult and youth students in
ballroom, latin and social (popular) dance classes. He taught beginning and
intermediate level dance classes at Brigham Young University and was
instrumental in developing that school’s curriculum for advanced level
social dance classes. As a post-graduate student he directed and did
choreography for the BYU American Ballroom Tour Team. He has also taught at
the University of Utah, and Walla Walla Community College.
