PARTAKING OF YESHUA/JESUS THE BREAD OF LIFE
"Let all 12 the house of Israel therefore know assuredly, that God hath made him both Lord and Christ, this Yeshua/Jesus whom ye crucified." (Acts 2:35)
True believers in Messiah are, according to scripture, "ONE BREAD."
The cup of blessing which we bless,is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? (1 Corinthians 10:17)
Our Lord said a great deal with regard to relationship with Him as the Living Bread. (Luke 11:3)
"Give us this day, our daily bread." (Matthew 6:11)
As the Bread of Life, Yeshua haMashiach/Jesus Christ longs to have fellowship and intimate communion with believers.
When they found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, "Rabbi, when did you come here?"
Jesus answered them, "Most certainly I tell you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves, and were filled. Don't work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him." They said therefore to him, "What must we do, that we may work the works of God?"
Jesus answered them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent." They said therefore to him, "What then do you do for a sign, that we may see, and believe you? What work do you do? Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written, 'He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.'" Jesus therefore said to them, "Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn't Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world." They said therefore to him, "Lord, always give us this bread."
Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. But I told you that you have seen me, and yet you don't believe. All those who the Father gives me will come to me. Him who comes to me I will in no way throw out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. This is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day. This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day." The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said, "I am the bread which came down out of heaven." They said, "Isn't this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does he say, 'I have come down out of heaven?"
Therefore Jesus answered them, "Don't murmur among yourselves. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day. It is written in the prophets, 'They will all be taught by God.' Therefore everyone who hears from the Father, and has learned, comes to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God. He has seen the Father. Most certainly, I tell you, he who believes in me has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that anyone may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh."
The Jews therefore contended with one another, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" Jesus therefore said to them, "Most certainly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don't have life in yourselves. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he who feeds on me, he will also live because of me. This is the bread which came down out of heaven--not as our fathers ate the manna, and died. He who eats this bread will live forever." These things he said in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
John 6:25-39
THE CUP YOU HAVE GIVEN ME TO DRINK: SHALL I NOT DRINK IT?
Then the Jews started arguing with one another: "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" (The Law strictly forbade the drinking of blood.) Jesus replied: "I tell you most solemnly, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will not have life in you. Anyone who does eat my flesh and drink my blood has eternal life, and I shall raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me and I live in him.
As I, who am sent by the living Father, myself draw life from the Father, so whoever eats me will draw life from me. This is the bread come down from heaven; not like the bread our ancestors ate: they are , but anyone who eats this bread will live for ever." He taught this doctrine at Capernaum, in the synagogue. After hearing it, many of his followers said, "This is intolerable language. How could anyone accept it?" Jesus was aware that his followers were complaining about it and said, "Does this upset you? What if you should see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before?
"It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh has nothing to offer. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. "But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the outset those who did not believe, and who it was that would betray him. He went on, "This is why I told you that no one could come to me unless the Father allows him." After this, many of his disciples left him and stopped going with him.
Observe that Jesus ended this teaching by revealing "the words I have spoken to you are spirit." There's a revelation to be received in the Lord's teaching. (6:63). Those who do not know Messiah, have long misunderstood what the Lord was talking about. Believers in ancient Rome were maligned, and accused of ritualistic sacrifice, and drinking blood. What the Lord refers to is the oneness with Him spoken of in the holy scriptures. For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. And "He that is joined to the Lord is ONE SPIRIT." (Ephesians 5:30, 32, I Corinthians 6:17)
As believers, we must receive Messiah into our lives, through forgiveness of sins, basing our faith on His atoning sacrifice.
"I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin." "How many are mine iniquities and sins: make me to know my transgression and my sin." " Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted." Psalm 38:18; Job 8:23; Matthew 5:4.
We must receive the infilling of His Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in a heavenly language, through walking in fellowship and communion with Him, daily, assimilating His life through the teaching of His word.
It cannot indeed be otherwise. The salvation of the Lord Jesus is a salvation from sin, but at calvary, He also bore our sicknesses. (Isaiah 53) The Greek word SOZO incorporates healing for the whole man, body, (including healing emotionally and mentally) soul and Spirit. The power, the grace, the Blessing of Jesus are exhibited in the taking away of sin out of us, and the implanting within us instead the Lord's life of holiness, which is from heaven. And it is because the Lord's Supper is intended to serve as a renewing and of our participation of the life of Christ, that there is the continued need for examing ones heart, as to whether we have sinned anew, in preparation for the Supper. Every sin is a need that calls for Yeshua/Jesus as our bread of life/living word, and atoning sacrifice.
As a Christian, preparing yourself for communion or the Lord's Table, do not fear coming before God's throne of grace, to obtain grace to help in time of need. Believe Him to effect a change in your life.
Precious And Merciful Yeshua haMashiach/Jesus Christ, My Redeemer:I acknowledge that you are the only wise God. (1 Timothy 1:17) You are both Adonai/Lord and Mashicah/Christ. My Lord & My God, as the Apostle Thomas said. You are the image of the invisible God. (Colossians 1:15) The express image of God's person. In you dwells all the fulness of the Godhead in bodily form. (Colossians 2:8-9) Search me and know my heart. Thou are our God who tries the reins of our heart. Before You, there is no creature that is not made manifest: but all things are and open before the eyes of You O Living Word, that discerns the very thoughts and intents of the heart, You, with whom we have to do. (Hebrews 4:12) Your eyes see me, and know our down sitting and our uprising. Before I was formed in the womb, your eyes saw me, and loved me. You never abandoned me, but drew me to you. (Psalm 139:2,16) You love me now, and have prepared the table of the Lord for me, at which I may receive healing and forgivness for all of my sins.
Your eyes are over righteous. You are the All-Seeing, Omniscient,Searcher of my heart. I invite you to search my heart and to cleanse me from my secret faults. Holy Lord, I place myself in your hands. Search me, O God, and know my heart. With reverence for You, I say unto you: Holy God, I wish to tolerate no single sin, however secret or deeply rooted it may be.
Lord, I crave your help: I come before you to place myself in the light of Your flaming eyes, before which no sin can stand. Search me, O God, and know my heart, O God of my salvation.
You are holy and tempt no man, but tell me in your word that I am tempted when I am drawn away and enticed by my own sin. Cause me to know the sin to which I am blind, and use whatever means you choose, Heavenly Father, to draw me closer to you, and to perfect your will in me. I shall recieve your forgiveness, and correction as your own loving child. Amen."
