Father Slater (played by Ron Bowen) ia a Catholic priest and an experienced exorcist.
Slater is compassionate, gentle, confident and very knowledgable about 'Christian' magic. He deals with the supernatural regularly, but some of Kades methods taken him by surprise. He tends to thinks of May as a boy, because of the age difference and May's inexperience - even though he's clearly a grown man. He is gentle and sympathetic, and he tries to calm May when Kade goads the younger priest and when May really starts to panic. But he soon starts to realise that he doesn't know anything about Father May or what he is capable of. |

Slater doesn't really care what religion Sam is - apart from some initial shock - he considers helping someone in pain to be more important. Though, he can't really conceive of why anyone would want to be a Satanist - to him it doesn't make any sense - and he'd really like to 'save' Sam from the fiery pits of Hell. He is very liberal but can't grasp the esoteric mindset.
When he decides to go with Kade, after being betrayed by his own kind, he is going where he thinks he can do some good. It's more machiavellian than simply agreeing to play nurse to those Kade tries to help, he sees the potential to do a lot of good. His agenda is to help people. |
