Beast Machines
Like it or loathe it, no-one can deny that Beast Machines was a landmark. This follow-up to the Beast Wars toyline and series followed the premise of the Maximals returning to cybertron, getting new bodies and finding the planet taken over by vehicle transformers known as Vehicons. This line brought back vehicle transformers, not seen in the western Transformers lines since the failed Machine Wars range (only released in selected US stores). The Maximals no longer looked like robots, now a mixture of robot and animal, with very stylised designs, while the Vehicons looked more like traditional robots. Lacking the general popularity of Beast Wars, Beast Machines proved to be one of the more controversial lines and shows.
