Judith Bowe Grogan![]() Judith, Thomas, and three Grogan brothers left Ireland in 1823. They made their way to the US via Canada. While on the ship, their young son, John, died and Judith gave birth to Edward William Grogan. It is told that Edward William Grogan was born in Canadian waters, while the ship waited quarantine and docking. Thomas and Judith (Bowe) Grogan resided briefly in Locksport, New York. Soon they moved to Straitsville, Perry County, Ohio, where they were farmers. Michael Bowe and John Bowe, two of Judith's brothers, and their families also lived in Ohio during the 1850's and 1860's. Judith Bowe Grogan also went by the name Julia Bowe Grogan. On the Federal Census's she went by Judith, on her estate settlement and other estate papers she goes by Julia. |
