Clarification of Identity
To my friends, Embroiderers' Guilds, Lace Guilds and
businesses in Australia & New Zealand.
You may not be aware that there are two people by the
name of Christine Bishop. Over the past year there have
been two articles published in Embroidery & Cross
Stitch magazine (April and October 2006) under the name
of "Christine Bishop" by an embroiderer from
Queensland. The only means of identifying us is the
telephone number at the end of the article. The last
article I wrote for Embroidery & Cross Stitch
magazine was published in November 2003 (Vol 10 No. 4).
Since then, I have written several articles for
Inspirations magazine and the next will be published in
April 2007.
I had contacted the editor of Embroidery & Cross
Stitch magazine pointing out that people are confusing us
and would they add "Queensland" after her name.
As this has fallen on deaf ears and I am forced to take
steps to rectify the situation.
While it is not illegal for the other person to
publish under their name, I consider the situation
unethical and morally wrong. My entire career is based
upon my name and reputation for which I have worked hard
over 25 years. From now on I will add my second name
initial "Christine P Bishop" and "South
Australia" to avoid any confusion. I would
appreciate your cooperation and ask you please when
advertising any classes, articles, lecture or information
on me to clearly identify which Christine Bishop.
Feel free to publish this email in any newsletters,
magazines, pass it on to your friends and anyone within
the textile field, however, please check the list first.
Christine P Bishop
Adelaide, South Australia
PS: The last article I wrote for
Embroidery & Cross Stitch magazine was dated November
2003. I have written several articles for Inspirations
magazine and the next will be published in April 2007.
