Tag Title Tourney Semifinals:
Team Package vs. Mamalukes
All 4 men have gotten into the ring after a lengthy entrance
by Luger. Russo then came out and said that the playing field
was not level. He then called out the Harris Boys to help the
Mamalukes. The match started with Mamalukes/Harris Boys attacking
Flair and Package. Flair and Package after 3 or 4 minutes fought
them all off as Flair paired off with the Mamalukes and Package
with Harris Boys. Flair had Johnny the Bull in the figure four
at one point but Vito broke it up. The match then went into a
traditional format with it being four on two. Flair was in the
ring for the first few minutes as the New Blood dominated the
match and would not allow him to tag. When Flair finally made
the tag the ref did not see it. Finally, in the end, with a Torture
Rack, TEAM PACKAGE WINS!
Mancow vs. Jimmy Hart
Mancow defeated Jimmy Hart with a chairshot to the head. Mancow
came out with a entourage and Hart came out with Hail. Hail tossed
Mancow around with very little action other than Hart/Mancow
rolling around the ring. Mancow won after hitting Hart with a
chair. Afterword Kidman came out and attacked Mancow.
US Title Tourney: Scott Steiner
vs. The Wall
The match started out slow with Steiner in control. Tons of power
moves as the match was pretty stiff. After a few minutes the
Wall got control and held control in a similar way that Steiner
did. Announcers are putting over that Wall could be a upset pick.
Steiner got the advantage back as they brawled onto the floor.
Wall reverse Irish whipped Steiner into the guardrails and went
for a table. Steiner made a comeback and setup the table. He
went to suplex him but Wall blocked it. He then went to chokeslam
but Steiner blinded him and Wall grabbed the ref and chokeslammed
him. Steiner won by DQ.
US Title Tourney: Mike Awesome
vs. Bam Bam Bigelow
The match was a complete brawl with Awesome nailing all his major
spots on Bigelow including a pescado to the outside and they
brawled around the ringside area and the crowd. Ernest Miller
then came down and superkicked Bigelow who was about to nail
the Greetings from Asbury Park. Miller then said that he was
going to dance since that is what everyone wants to see. Awesome
then nailed a clothesline and Awesome splash to pin Miller who
was supposed to be in the match to move on in the tournament.
Tag Team Title Tournament:
Shane Douglas/Buff Bagwell vs. Harlem Heat 2000
Match started out quickly with all four fighting but it went
traditional. Douglas/Bagwell held control first on Harlem Heat
till they made a blind tag and took control on Bagwell. Match
really slowed at this point with Bagwell and Big T making hot
tags as both were down. Harlem Heat though had control on Douglas
as Bagwell was hurt on the outside from Cash. Douglas then out
of nowhere got the pin on Stevie Ray with the Pittsburgh Plunge
for the pinfall. After the match there was some argument between
Harlem Heat 2000.
US Title Tourney: Sting vs.
Booker
A hot back and forth match with each guy selling each others
moves as the fans were really into the match. They teased continuous
near falls. The final three minutes were really good with tons
of chain moves and each guy nailed finishers but kicked out.
Sting was able to get the pinfall victory with a death drop out
of nowhere.
US Title Tourney: Kidman w/Torrie
vs. Vampiro
Match began with Vampiro in control as Kidman failed in a attack.
Vampiro nailed a suplex and then a clothesline from the top rope
for a 2 count. Kidman fought back but Vampiro nailed him with
a powerbomb to stop him. Match slowed again as Vampiro was in
control until Kidman reversed a powerbomb to gain control again.
Kidman then nailed a guillotine leg drop but Vampiro fought back
out again but Kidman nailed him with a knee and sideslam for
a near fall. Vampiro was then in the corner as Kidman choked
him. Then he went for a suplex put Vampiro blocked it and did
one of his own and then nailed his version of the Rock Bottom.
Vampiro went for his finisher but Kidman reversed it. They fought
onto the outside of the ring for a few minutes and then went
back in as they continued to trade control back and forth. Kidman
nailed a DDT when the camera cut to the back as Hogan came in
and went to the ring. He walked down to the ring as he and Kidman
began to brawl. Hogan tossed him out of the ring. Hogan then
began to toss Kidman around the ringside area and then picked
up the steel steps but Kidman dogged them. Hogan the setup the
steps again and chokeslammed Kidman onto the broadcast table
that did not break. Hogan then grabbed Kidman again and bodyslammed
him through a table. Hogan then tossed him in the ring and Vampiro
got the pinfall victory to move on in the tournament.
After the match, Hogan went to
attack Bischoff but Russo got cops.
WCW Hardcore Title: Terry
Funk vs. Norman Smiley
Funk started out the match by looking for Smiley and he found
him in a bathroom stall as he was screaming in the stall. Funk
started by attacking him and tossing a garbage can at him and
then spraying him with a fire extinguisher. Funk then dropped
a refrigerator of cans on him. And then they brawled into a kitchen
as they battled on a stove, serving cart, table and sink. Norman
then nailed Funk with a cookie sheet and placed Funk in a garbage
can. Funk then began to smack Funk with a laptop as they went
into a hallway. Smiley came back and climbed a ladder but got
stuck on a pipe on the ceiling and was screaming. Funk the grabbed
a table and whacked Smiley until he fell into it. Funk then tossed
Smiley into a door and tossed a chair at him. Smiley fought back
with a chair of his own. They then got into the arena and into
the crowd. Funk was taking hard chairshots as they fought down
the aisle. Funk and Smiley got in the ring as Smiley continually
nailed Funk with chair shots and then did the Little Wiggle for
a huge crowd pop. He then did the Big Wiggle behind Funk who
nailed him with a chair. They fought back outside the ring and
Funk grabbed a ladder. Rhodes then came out and attacked Funk
and gave him a piledriver on a chair. Dustin then climbed the
top rope and missed. Funk then grabbed the ladder and dropped
it on Smiley who was still on the outside on the floor. Funk
then got the pinfall victory to win the hardcore title.
WCW US Title Tourney Semifinals
- Scott Steiner vs. Mike Awesome
A back and forth stiff match with Awesome and Steiner using tons
of power moves. They had a bunch of near falls as they did 50/50
control. Mike Awesome took complete control at the end and was
about to nail the Awesome splash when Nash came down and nailed
him with a crutch off the top rope. Steiner then placed Awesome
in the Steiner recliner for the victory.
WCW US Title Tourney Semifinals
- Sting vs. Vampiro
Vampiro played the cowardly heel in the match with Sting taking
the early control after Vampiro jumped him from behind. They
then brawled around the ringside area and used chairs. Then got
back in the ring and Sting was still in control. Sting then went
to the top rope and nailed a frog splash for a two count. Sting
then tossed Vampiro back to the outside and nailed the Stinger
Splash. Vampiro fought back and he tossed Sting back into the
ring. He gave Sting a flying shoulder block and leg drop for
a two count. Vampiro slowed the pace down and gave Sting a backdrop
for a two. He continued to dominate for a few minutes. Vampiro
went to the top rope and gave Sting a top rope dropkick but Sting
got up and swatted it away. He then gave Vampiro a death drop
and then placed him in the death lock for the win.
Suicide Six Man Cruiserweight
Title Match
Three Count did their song twice till the other 5 people came
down. The match began with everyone brawling but soon everyone
went to a corner of the ring. Candido/Crowbar started off but
Leroux/Vampiro soon got in the ring. Juventud was about to get
the pinfall victory with a driver but Artist stopped the pin
as Candido/Leroux fought on the outside. The match broke down
again as everyone started to brawl around the ringside area and
Daphne began to get involved. Then everyone began to jump onto
each other for several high spots. When everyone was outside
the ring, Flair and Shannon Moore began to brawl in the ring.
Chris Candido and Artist then began to fight in the ring and
the Artist was about to do his finisher on Candido on a chair
when Tammy Sytch knocked him off and Candido got the pinfall
victory to win the title. Then Tammy/Paisley got into a cat fight.
WCW Tag Title Match - Team
Package vs. Douglas/Bagwell
Russo came out with Douglas and did commentary for the match.
Match started with Bagwell/Package with Bagwell taking control
first. But Package fought back. Bagwell/Douglas played a role
similar to Vampiro. Douglas then tagged in and took control on
Package. Package was able to make the hot tag to Flair. Flair
fought with Douglas until Bagwell/Douglas took control with double
teaming. The match slowed with Douglas measuring all his offense
on Flair as him and Bagwell constantly double teamed. Bagwell
was tagged in as Flair made his comeback but Bagwell fought back.
Bagwell tagged in Douglas who kept the advantage. Flair fought
back and both played Ricky Morton as they made hot tags. All
4 were soon brawling as Russo got up. Bagwell and Douglas were
double teaming Luger. Bagwell went to nail the Blockbuster but
nailed Douglas. Then out of nowhere Clark and Adams came in and
attacked Package as Bagwell/Douglas won the tag team titles.
WCW US Title Match - Scott
Steiner vs. Sting
Crowd was hot at the beginning. They started out quickly with
tons of quick moves as they bounced around the ring. Sting then
tossed outside the ring and then gave him a pescado onto the
floor. Sting tossed him back into the ring and went for a frog
splash but Steiner got his knees up. Steiner slowed the pace
with power moves and submissions. Steiner was in full control
and was constantly jawing with the crowd. Steiner then placed
Sting on the top turnbuckle but Sting fought back and nailed
Steiner with a clothesline and then a Stinger Splash. A second
attempt was made but Steiner pulled the ref in front of him.
Sting was standing there when Vampiro came out from underneath
the ring and dragged Sting under the ring through a whole. Vampiro
then tossed Vampiro into the ring again who was bleeding and
Steiner placed Sting in the Steiner Recliner for the submission
victory.
WCW World Title Match - DDP
vs. Jeff Jarrett
They spent awhile building the match with clips and showed them
walking to the ring from the back. Match started out quick with
DDP going for quick pinfall attempts as he was in control. DDP
then tossed him to the floor and nailed a pescado. Kimberly then
slapped Jeff Jarrett as they brawled into the crowd. The camera
lost DDP/Jarrett as the fans crowded around them. They then cut
to a aerial shot but the quality was low. They finally got a
camera near them as Jarrett/DDP continued to brawl. After a few
moments they got back to the ring as DDP continued to have control
but Jarrett continued to fight back. DDP went to the top rope
but Jarrett knocked him down and gave DDP a superplex. Jarrett
then grabbed a chair and repeatedly nailed DDP with it till the
ref grabbed the chair. Jarrett then began to work over the back
of DDP for a few minutes. DDP then made a big comeback as they
brawled over the ringside area. Eric Bischoff then came down
to watch the match as Jarrett destroyed DDP on the outside of
the ring. Kimberly tried to stop Jarrett but couldn't. Jarrett
walked off for a second as it gave time to DDP to make a very
short comeback . DDP made another comeback and posted Jarrett
on the corner post. DDP then went for a Diamond Cutter but Jarrett
blocked it by grabbing the top rope. The ref was knocked down
for a second as Jarrett grabbed the title and nailed DDP. DDP
was able to kick out as Bischoff began to walk down the aisle
and Kimberly grabbed a guitar of Jarrett. Jarrett has by the
point placed DDP into a figure four. The move is broken, and
they trade two counts, then DDP catches Jarrett with a rock bottom.
Jarrett later applies a sleeper while fans chant "boring".
Page reverses into a sleeper of his own, but Jarrett drops out
of it. Bischoff jumps on to the apron and grabs referee Charles
Robinson. DDP hits the Diamond Cutter, then holds Jarrett for
the guitar shot. Kimberly hits DDP instead, and Jarrett hits
the Stroke. Bischoff lets go of Robinson, and the pin is counted.
Jeff Jarrett is the new WCW World Champion, and Kimberly hugs
Bischoff. Shane Douglas, Buff Bagwell, Scott Steiner, Vince Russo,
Chris Candido and Tammy Sytch all come out to celebrate.
