The July 5th, 2000 WCW Thunder opened with clips of the July 3rd, 2000 WCW Monday Nitro.

WCW World Champion Jeff Jarrett made his way to the ring and announced that he is The Chosen One. He said that Kanyon and Shane Douglas would Booker T and Buff Bagwell. The Cat then announced that the man to get the pinfall in that match would go on to face Jarrett for the World Title later in the night.

Storm got in the ring and was attacked by two of his opponents while waiting for his partner. When Kidman made his way to the ring, he and Storm went through a series of pins until Kidman tagged out. Disco held Storm for Rey to drop a leg in his crotch. That was followed by an inverted atomic drop from Disco. Rey went for a Bronco Buster on Storm, but he took a kick to the nuts from Storm.
Rey then gave Disco a DDT, and Storm a leg drop soon after. Rey went for a Frankensteiner on Kidman, but Kidman turned it into a powerbomb. Disco broke up the pin and gave Kidman a piledriver. Storm broke up the pin on that move and put Disco in a half crab for the win.
Gene Okerlund interviewed Buff Bagwell and Booker T. Booker read the titles of three chapters from his new "book," Positively Kanyon's Greatest Moments. Chapter 1: Kanyon Sucks, Chapter 2: Kanyon Still Sucks, and Chapter 3: Kanyon Sucks Again.
Trainer Danny Young helped out The Perfect Event and told them who locked them in the tanning beds.

The Cat got all three Dragons to bow their heads, and he kicked them down. The Cat threw Kaz Hayashi to the outside with the Testicular Claw. The Cat then danced after telling a woman she looked like Mike Tyson.
The Perfect Event challenged the Woody, the production truck guy.
The Cat thanked the Jung Dragons for some great competition, and he gave them some money.
Match 2: Big Vito vs. The Demon, Hardcore Title.
The match started in the back, and when they got to the ring, Vito put The Demon in the corner. He was going to hit The Demon with a baseball bat, but he stepped on a garbage can lid that was on The Demon's balls. The Demon came back with a butterfly suplex and an elbow from the ropes for a count of two. The Demon gave Vito another elbow, and then Vampiro came out.
Vito was about to hit The Demon with a chair, but The Demon dropkicked it into him. Vampiro then hit The Demon in the back of the head with a shovel, allowing Vito to get the easy win. Major gave Tygress a bodyslam, and then Juvi tried to give Gunns a Juvi Driver, but Loco stopped him and gave him a suplex slam. Gunns appeared to be hurt, which distracted the referee and allowed Juvi to hit Chavo with the Cruiserweight Title for the win.

Crobar hit David with the pipe for the win and then held David hostage. Crobar wanted to know who shaved Daffney's head, and David said that Hancock did it, and he did indeed cheat on Daffney. Daffney then slapped David and walked away.
