Doomsday 2001 started off with a video montage featuring the two wrestlers who would be competing in the first match of the night, a match which happened to be for the title of RingMaster 2001 and which awarded the winner a World Title shot in the main event at Doomsday 2001. Those two wrestlers were Stryfe and Mack Daddy. Next, viewers were told that the World Champion, Omega, would be the Special Guest Referee for the match.
RingMaster 2001 Tournament Final Stryfe vs. Mack Daddy with Omega as Special Guest Referee
This match carried a huge amount of significance because the winner would get to face Omega for the World Title later in the evening. Omega was allowed to referee because it was decided that he should be able to scout out his competition before his title defense. However, many thought that Omega would let his problems with Stryfe get in the way of his refereeing and that he would do all he could to stop Stryfe from winning this match. It was only a minute or two into the match before we saw the first of many instances where Omega's refereeing looked to be far from impartial. In the early stages of the match Stryfe was warned numerous times to stop breaking the rules or he would be disqualified. However, it didn't appear as if Stryfe had broken any rules. Mack Daddy complained to Omega that Stryfe had pulled his hair when executing a move, but the replay showed that the move was clean. Nevertheless, Omega was determined to not allow Stryfe to win this match and it appeared that he would be successful. As the match continued, both wrestlers hit big moves each other, but neither was able to keep his opponent down for a three-count. However, Stryfe couldn't keep Mack Daddy down was because everytime he covered him Omega would administer a very slow count. It was obvious that Stryfe was very unhappy with the way the match was going, and he went under the ring to get a weapon to take his anger out on Mack Daddy with. When he swung at Mack Daddy, the Mackster ducked and Stryfe hit Omega instead. Omega was down and temporarily out. Stryfe saw an opportunity and quickly hit Mack Daddy with the Bytchin' Bulldog and covered him. Stryfe then grabbed Omega's arm and counted the pinfall himself.
Winner and TCW RingMaster 2001: Stryfe
Immediately after Stryfe counted the pinfall with his hand, Omega began to come to. He realized what had happened and was furious. Stryfe was still at ringside recovering from a grueling match and Omega cowardly attacked him from behind. He was relentless, targeting Stryfe's ribs and knee in an attempt to injure him before he had to face him in the main event. When he was through, Omega left Stryfe lying in agony at ringside.
A graphic was shown of how Stryfe advanced through the tournament to become RingMaster 2001.
Next cameras showed a hilarious One-On-One Interview that TCW commentator Ace Gray conducted with Futko ealier in the day.
Instigator vs. Prodigal Submission Match
We got our first look at Prodigal in this match, but it wasn't a long look. Instigator fought well and showed us some innovative moves, but Prodigal's shootfighting style was something Instigator just couldn't handle. Prodigal made Instigator submit to a Dragon Sleeper.
Winner: Prodigal
The cameras cut to the back where Stryfe wanted to cut a promo. TCW's bytch tried to get out what he wanted to say, but he rambled and was nearly incoherent. It was clear that Stryfe was very injured and that he probably wouldn't be able to compete in the main event against Omega.
Next cameras cut to a shot of Mark Angel in the locker room getting ready for his eXtreme Title Ladder Match against Heat. A TCW employee entered the room and told Angel that he had to relinquish the eXtreme Title so that it could be hung above the ring for the Ladder Match. Angel took one last look at his belt and handed it over.
Next, we saw a video montage that showed how Instigator had thrown out the TCW Backyard Title after his controversial and tainted win over Omega at Hardcore Halloween II. We saw how Little Mikey Walker had found the title belt and proclaimed himeself to be the new champion.
Little Mikey Walker (c) vs. Futko
Little Mikey Walker may have entered for this match with the Backyard Title belt around his waist (and upside down actually), the the fact was that he had never defeated anyone to win that belt. In fact, he had won only one match in his entire TCW career, and that win was one year ago at Doomsday 2000. His opponent for this match was the most popular wrestler in TCW, former World Champion Futko. If Mikey wanted anyone to believe that he deserved to hold a belt in TCW, he could do it by beating one of the best wrestlers in the entire organization in Futko. This match began, and as we all expected from a match featuring these two wrestlers, it was full of comedy. However, mixed in with the comedy was some great wrestling. Mikey showed that for a little guy he is able to absorb a lot of punishment. This punishment included Futko debuting a new move called the Tummy Rumbler, which is basically a modified gut buster. It looked like Futko would pick up the victory when he had Mikey laying in the ring and found a pool cue under the ring. He tried to hit Mikey in the eye with it, but in typical Futko fashion ended up poking himself in the eye. Mikey scrambled to his feet and hit a huge Whoopie Cushion on Futko. This was just enough to keep Futko down for the three-count and LMW had his second ever win and, more importantly, proof that he deserved to hold the Backyard Title.
Winner and still Backyard Champion: Little Mikey Walker
Next we saw a video montage showing the feud between Mark Angel and Heat. We saw how Heat had told Mark Angel that if he beat ADHD (a member of Heat's stable called Random Acts Of Violence), that he could join RAOV. However, when Angel beat ADHD and won the eXteme Title from him, he spit in Heat's face and refused to join RAOV. Heat wasn't happy about this and he and the members of RAOV attacked Angel. The next week on Chaos! it looked as if one of the members of RAOV, Instigator, had come out to help Heat in a match when instead he attacked him. Instigator then ripped off his mask to reveal he was actually Mark Angel. These two were set to resolve their problems in a Ladder Match for the eXtreme Title with the added stipulation that is Mark Angel lost, he would have to join Random Acts Of Violence.
Mark Angel (c) vs. Heat Ladder Match
Heat attacked Mark Angel during his entrance and this match began. It became clear very soon that this match meant a lot to both competitors. We saw them take risks and perform stunts that no one in TCW had ever attempted before. A few of the biggest moves we saw were Angel jump off one ladder and onto another which he used like a seesaw to nail Heat with, Heat hang Angel off the side of the ring and climb all the way to the top of a ladder to give the helpless Angel a knee drop, Angel miss a Sommersault Senton Bomb from the top of the ladder and finally Heat hit a huge elbow drop from the top of the ladder. The finish of the match saw probably the most dangerous situation TCW wrestlers have ever been in. Heat lay a ladder across the tops of two other ladder which were open and standing up. Then both he and Angel struggled to block out the pain and climb to the top of this makeshift platform. They both reached the top and for a few seconds they battled each other over 10 feet above the ground. Angel managed to knock Heat all the way to the ground and then to grab the eXtreme Title belt.
Winner and still eXtreme Champion: Mark Angel
Omega (c) vs. Stryfe
Nothing could keep Stryfe from competing in the match for the World Title, but as he struggled to the ring it was evident that he was badly injured and in a lot of pain. Omega entered next and after the ring announcements, the match began. Omega easily took control of the match, methodically working on Stryfe's injured bady parts. In the match Omega put Stryfe in four different leg submission holds, but Stryfe refused to tap out. Omega also worked in a lot of moves targeting Stryfe ribs. Stryfe was busted a few minutes into the match and Omega was soon to follow. It seemed like nothing Omega could do would keep Stryfe down for a full three-count, and Stryfe caught the break he needed about 15 minutes into the match. Stryfe hit Omega with a Frog Splash and then the Bytchin' Bulldog, and it was just enough to keep the Omega down for a three-count and end a grueling match.
Winner and NEW World Champion: Stryfe
Stryfe celebrated for a bit and then limped off to the back. His battered body was a good indication of the work and suffering it takes to make it to the top of the backyard wrestling world.
