Hunter Hearst Helmsley

WWF Circa Mid-Late 90s

It's that time again for us to re-visit the 1995 version of WWF. We covered a Tax Man, a Racecar Driver, and a Atomic Mutated Powerhouse. So now it's time to revisit everyone's FAVORITE type of gimmick, The snobby Blue Blood. And who else to play the part but Lord Steven Regal.

Wait a minute, Regal was quite good. Wait again, he was still in WCW. OK, so WWF couldn't get him, instead they chose his partner at the time, Terra Ryzin...

....and remodeled him as Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Helmlsey made his WWF debut in the late spring of 1995, and got over as much as "The Carribean Legend", Savio Vega. In other words, he put people to sleep. The only thing Helmsley had going for him was he had a good finishing move, which he dubbed "The Pedigree."

While in the mist of his tenure, Helmsley was put in an "excellent" feud with Henry O. Godwinn, culminatying in a Hogpen match (That's the Kurt Angle joke from 2000 if you didn't know), then went on to feud with The Garbage Man. But his push ended thanks to the MSG incident. HHH was pushed below status of the likes of Jake Roberts and didn't seek haven until the winter of 1996 when he became Intercontinental Champion.

Thankfully, The formation of DX re-juvinated Helmsley's career and he soon became the World Wrestling Federation Champion (5 times). Well, that plus he was banging the booker/daughter of the owner.
