Yeah, baby, yeah! Austin Powers, the character who became a pop culture icon in his 1997 blockbuster hit, Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery went at it one more time in this 1999 sequel which also was a blockbuster hit and introduced two new pop culture icons: Fat Bastard and Mini-Me.
The movie stars Austin Powers (Mike Myers). The beginning of the film picks up where International Man Of Mystery left off. Austin and his new wife (Elizabeth Hurley, are on their honeymoon when Austin discovers a terrible secret: his wife is actually a Fembot designed by Dr. Evil (Mike Myers again) to kill Austin Powers. Austin escapes that dastardly deed.
Meanwhile, Dr. Evil has taken safety in Seattle's Space Needle. The evil genius also has a new friend in Mini-Me (Verne Troyer), an exact replicate of Dr. Evil-only 1/8th his size. No matter, as Dr. Evil immediatley falls for Mini-Me and pushes his real son, Scott Evil (Seth Green), away from him. This movies evil scheme: Dr. Evil plans on sending a satelite laser to destroy the earth! There is only one promblem: Austin Powers can stop him. BUT! Dr. Evil has solved that promblem by building a time machine to travel back to 1969 while Austin was still frozen and steal his mojo. Dr. Evil does and Austin loses his confidence which affects his work.
Fourtnaley, the secret agent has help from a hot young blonde spy named Felicity Shagwell (Heather Grahmn) and together they travel to 1969 to track down Dr. Evil and save the Earth.
That is the basic plot of the movie and along the way, the movie never stops! It just keeps going and going and going and getting better and better. We meet Fat Bastard (Mike Myers again), a obese Scotsman. But Mini-Me and Dr. Evil steal the show.
They engage in a parody of Will Smith's "Just The Two Of Us" and get more screen time then they did in the original. And they deserve it cuz they all so damn funny.
The movie climax takes place in space and a showdown between Mini-Me and Austin Powers. The hero wins and the Earth is saved. Hooray!
And they all live happily ever after. Well until Goldmember came out.
I give this movie ****1/2. If you never seen it and want to prepare for Goldmember SEE IT!
So, check it out!
That is all for my review. Feedback is welcome.
