and adds a luster to the same,
who shares my joy,
who cheers when sad,
the greatest friend I've ever had,
Long life to her for there's no other,
to take the place of my dear mother.
I wanted to put this poem on my site because of what it means to me, and it is a tribute to my mom, Gloria Hudon, in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. When I was a little girl, I had bought a present for my mom, (with the help of my dad, Frank, whom I miss dearly). It was a dish that hung on the wall with this beautiful poem engraved on it. When I was first learning to read, I memorized the poem, but I really didn't figure out what it meant until I had children of my own. I am not so sure that I represent every word of the poem as a mom, but I share my two sons' joy, and I cheer them when they are sad. I will have to let them determine if I am the greatest friend they ever had. I have to earn their friendship just like every other friendship. I just hope that I have earned my mother's friendship. She is my greatest friend.
