Every time I think of him,
My heart begins to break,
Although I see him now and
then,
Standing down by the lake.
I thought I was in love with
him,
The night was warm and sweet,
The stars were shining high
above,
The moon was at its peak.
He put his lips next to mine,
And whispered "I love you",
And I was foolish enough to
think,
That his sweet words were true.
He said we would get married,
And lead a wonderful life,
And he would be my husband,
And I would be his wife.
But I found out how much he
loved me,
When I was walking by,
I saw another figure,
A girl was by his side.
I listened to them for awhile,
And when he kissed her too,
I knew that he didn't love me,
Although I wanted him to.
He called me many times that
week,
The pain was hard to bare,
But somehow I managed to tell
him,
That I just didn't care.
Many days have passed me by,
But I have almost forgotten,
That summer night down by the
lake,
When my heart was first broken.
