HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

I wrote a poem for you dad
I wanted you to see
How blessed you made my life
And what you did for me.
I recall your laughter and the love
You constantly expressed
You taught me right from wrong
Our home was surely blessed.
You taught me how to ride a bike
To fish and hunt with you
You taught me how to talk to God
In everything I do.
You sat and listened patiently
To all my silly whims
But even when you doubted me
I saw the approving grins.
Mother was your pride and joy
And what a wonderful sight
To see the love of parents
And never see them fight.
You worked so hard all of your life
You had such little time
But you touched the hearts of everyone
You especially---touched mine.
For you see dad--I'm just like you
I know you'd be proud to see
That I'm the wonderful father
Like you--turned out to be.
A husband, father, and grandpa
Just like you once were too
I dedicate my love of life
To fathers just like you.
I know you smile down on me
I see the twinkle in your eyes
As I lay my flowers upon the ground
You watch me by and by.
Someday we'll meet again dad
And you will surely see
How much of me is just like you
The man--I wanted to be.

I dedicated this to my grandpa Winans.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DAD

I write this poem about a man
Who means the world to me
He's dedicated his whole life
To us--his family.
From the time when I was little
And he carried me back then
Till the time when I got married
And he held my shaking hand.
At night we'd go to the park
And swing and run and play
And when I was too tired to walk
I got carried the rest of the way.
My dad would take me hunting
And as I stood by his side
We never could shoot anything
Too much noise--I guess that's why
He always brought me home a pet
Not dogs or cats or birds,
He brought me home a chipmunk
An owl, a squirrel, a frog.
He taught me how to ride a bike
And how to drive a car
He taught me how to be myself
And most importantly of all
He taught me how to love life itself
And trust in God above.
So I dedicate this poem to you
For being my wonderful dad
And for always being there for me
Through all the good times and the bad.
So relax today dad and enjoy yourself
As we all honor you
For you are the best deserving dad
This days made just for you.

I dedicated this poem to my dad
