WASTE MANAGEMENT TRUCK DRIVER

I get up early in the morning
Before the sun shines through
I have my morning coffee
Then this is what I do.
I do my daily routine check
Then I begin to pray
That this old truck will get me through
And not break down today.
Dont let me have a flat tire
Dont let my engine die
There are alot of people
Who will yell and scream and cry.
If I dont get there on time
They will be calling in
And even though I'm running late
It matters not to them.
He missed my trash again today
I dont know whats the matter
You'd think I'd up and moved this house
Or do you need new drivers?
He's on his way he does his best
He puts his safety first
Then pulls up to the driveway
And always expects the worst.
My trash is torn all over the yard
Because you weren't on time
He does his daily duty
Thinking- I'm not that far behind.
He waves and smiles and shuts the door
And continues down the road
And there he finds nice trash cans
All sitting in a row.
Now dont forget to put the lids
Back where they ought to be
He gets the trash and goes ahead
To another family.
But once in awhile there are a few
That make his day complete
A nice old couple or caring person
Has left him with a treat.
A kind word goes a long way
When you're working very hard
So give a smile and thank you
To the men who drive so far.
To make your home a safer place
And keep your lawns so neat
If not for him we'd have a mess
In every town and street.
