Munkustrap is the brave and valiant leader-in-training of the Jellicles. When Old Deuteronomy is nowhere to be found, the Jellicles turn to Munkustrap for guidance; or when Macavity threatens, Munkustrap is always the protector.

Munkustrap is a grey/silver tom with black stripes. His father (or grandfather) is Old Deuteronomy, and whenever Macavity is about, you can always find Munkustrap guarding him in case of attack. He is looked up to by all cats. During the Jellicle Ball, he introduced the audience to Jennyanydots, the Gumbie Cat and tells them what a Jellicle cat is and why the Jellicle cats have gathered for the Jellicle Ball. He is the narrator of the show. When Macavity threatens the tribe, Munkustrap fights the Hidden Paw and is wounded. Afterwards, Demeter nuzzles him (or nuzzles Alonzo, depending on the production) in the spotlight. Indeed, Munkustrap is the cat for the job!
