Chapter One

Looking into the mirror and smoothing down a stray piece of hair that had fallen out of his ponytail, Howie looked in the reflection to his bandmate who was nonchalantly flipping through a magazine.

"You should really consider it, Kev." he said.

"No."

Howie dropped his hand from his hair and turned to face him. "Come on, Kevin."

"No." Kevin repeated, still not looking up from the magazine.

Howie sighed and turned back to the mirror. "You're impossible. You know that don't you." He looked at Kevin to see him nodding into the magazine. Howie shook his head and said "I don't know how you expect to meet anyone, staying in your house all the time.

Kevin finally put down the magazine and stood up. "That's just it, Howie. I don't expect to meet anyone. Not right now at least." He started to leave the room but Howie's voice stopped him.

"Sitting around moping isn't going to make you feel better, you know. She's not coming back."

Kevin clenched his jaw and he remained silent as he glared at Howie.

Howie sighed and approached Kevin, laying a sympathetic hand on his shoulder. "I know she hurt you when she left Kevin. But it's been months now. You have to try to get over her."

Kevin's face softened and he appeared to relent. Howie waited hopefully for his answer. "I'll consider it." he finally said and Howie let out a sigh of relief. It was a start.

"You'll like her, Kev." Howie was saying as he turned back to the mirror. "She's really cute. Blonde hair, blue eyes." He turned to judge Kevin's reaction, only to find that he'd already left the room.

******************************

Kevin sat down on the sofa, having finally gotten Howie to leave for his date with his girlfriend. He flipped on the T.V but payed little attention to it, he was thinking about what Howie had said. It had been three months since Genna had left him inexplicably. He wanted to start dating again, really he did. But he just didn't want to get burned again.

Howie had been trying ever since Genna had left to set him up with one of his girlfriend's friends. He supposed he would have to relent sooner or later. Sighing, he picked up the phone to call Howie.

******************************

Howie put down the phone and smiled over at his girlfriend. "He agreed." he said with a winning smile.

"That's great!" Laura exclaimed, flashing him an equally beautiful smile. "Olivia will be good for him don't you think? He spends so much time....alone."

"I know, baby." Howie said putting an arm around her and hugging her close. "Hopefully Olivia can bring him out of his shell."
