Bugs & Glitches

Phantom PC
In Celadon City, go to the building with the guy who says "This is a hotel for humans". Go to the far right wall and stand in the middle square facing north. Press A and... whoa! A ghost computer!

Fish in Statues
It's weird, but you can fish in statues! Simply use the rod! You can SURF in them too.

How to find Missingno
Go to Viridian and talk to the guy who shows you how to catch Pokemon. After his demonstration FLY to Cinnabar. Now go to the east coast and SURF up and down the half-land, half-water tiles. You will encounter some VERY high level Pokémon, like Golducks, Starmies, Abras, etc. and some other, normal level Pokémon. (I've heard rumors of people getting wild Mews to appear, but I've never seen this happen, so rest assured it's just a rumor) But if the screen goes black for about five seconds when the battle begins, that's when you know you've found Missingno! To capture, use Pokémon at level 35-40, because Missingno has an EXTREMELY low defense rating. (You can use a ton of Calciums, or whatever that stuff that raises defense is called, on it to even things out) Missingno is listed as Pokémon 000 on the status screen, and has no Pokédex entry. This is what Missingno looks like:

Mwa ha ha! Missingno is EVIL!!!

or something like that. I think it's supposed to be a bird. Its attacks are two Water Gun attacks and one Sky Attack. When you enter the battle with it, it has a Raticate's cry, but when you use it to fight, it has a Rhydon cry! Missingno is Bird/Normal type (maybe the Bird type was the early version of the Flying type). Sometimes it's at level 80, sometimes it's level 120 or above! But if it's at level 0, DON'T CATCH IT. It messes up the game! Also, the Elite Four hall of fame gets messed up when you catch Missingno. It shows glitches and Pokémon you don't have. One time I had a Pokémon on my hall of fame that named Team Rocket and was type 1: Blue and type 2: Pokémaniac and its picture was a Poliwrath. Talk about weird! Besides these effects, look for other weird things this trick does!!

130 of any item
First, put the item you want 130 of in the 6th slot from the top. Then, do the Missingno trick. When you encounter Missingno, you'll get 130 of that item! Some great items to try this on are Rare Candy, Master Balls, TMs, Full Restores, Max Revives, and other rare or expensive items.

The old man on the roof
Here's one I found by accident but it's actually weird. First of all make sure you don't have the Secret Key that opens Blaine's gym with you. Then SURF up the right side of Cinnabar Island, and line up horizontally with the door to Blaine's gym. Walk over to the door and when you get the message "The door is locked" an old man will appear on the roof of the gym! He disappears once the message is over.

Morphing Trees
Now here's a really weird one. Go to Cycling Road (west of Celadon City) and get over against the far left wall. Go down a little way then go back up (hard to do cuz you're on a hill) and the trees on the left hand side of the screen will have turned into water! Go back down and poof, they're trees again! This happens in a few places in the game, but this is the most obvious - and the strangest!

WEIRD POKéMON SCREW UP
I don't know how this one happened, but one day I was playing Pokémon Blue on my SNES using Super Game Boy when all of a sudden all the Pokémon pics in the Pokédex turned into Butterfree. That's right, each and every Pokémon now looked like Butterfree. But they still had their original colors (it was Super Game Boy) and cries. In the battles, however, all the Pokémon looked like messed up Missingno-ish blobs. After about 2 minutes, though, the screen started to go all static (like when you play a blank tape in the VCR) and real eerie music played in the background. Then the game crashed completely. I had to reset the SNES. I tried it about 50 times after that and it never happened again. My game runs perfectly stable since that strange crash so it's probably a real bug and not a problem with my copy. I know no one out there is going to believe this one, but it happened, trust me. I was really stumped by this one. I probably should put it on the P files because it was like my cart was haunted or possessed. This has got to be the strangest game glitch I have ever seen. Anyone else have this happen? Please let me know... before I exorcise my cart.

Pokémon Snap Charmander Glitch
This is just a little thing for fun. In the Volcano level, get to the section where there are a bunch of Charmanders running around (near the Moltres egg). Lure them really close to your vehicle using PokéFood, then wait a few seconds. After a while some of the Charmanders will start roaring at you (Chaaaar!). While they're roaring, play the Poké Flute. While the Charmanders are dancing, look at the eyes of the Charmander(s) that were roaring at you. Kinda weird, huh?

Sound Glitch
First of all you have to get Jynx and Scyther, or at least have their data in the Pokedex. Then go to the Pokédex, scroll down to Jynx, select CRY, and while Jynx's cry is playing, QUICKLY go up to Scyther and select CRY. If done right the game will make a weird sound. Note: you can do it with Mr. Mime if you don't have Scyther.

Appearing Man
Go to Cinnabar and SURF up and down the east coast (again?). Oops, I forgot, make sure you don't have the Secret Key with you. line up horizontally with the door to Blain's gym and walk over to it. When it says "the door is locked", an old man will appear on the roof of the gym!

Disappearing man
This is sorta like the last glitch except it makes a person disappear instead of appear. Go to the Rocket Game Corner in Celadon City and find the woman who says that the slot machines have different odds. Stand in front of the slot machine directly above her, and keep an eye on the upper most guy on the right side of the screen. Now, press A. When it asks if you want to play the slot machine, say yes. That guy will vanish into thin air!

Walk through walls!
Okay, so this one isn't that cool, but check it out anyway. Go to the Unknown Dungeon and find the ladder on the mazey 2nd floor that leads to the small enclosed area on the 1st floor with the ladder that leads to the basement (you know which one I'm talking about, right?). Go down this ladder, then when you go to the 1st floor, press Down and you will walk through the wall! I think it only works when you're on the bike.

Another Sound Glitch
Go to Seafoam Island or Victory Road and find a pit that you can jump down and land on dry land (it won't work if you land in water). Get on the bike and then jump down the pit while on the bike. When you land, you won't be on the bike, but the cycling music will still be playing.

Four glitches
Sent in by ness

1. one time i was trading and i accidentally unplugged th cable right at the end and the screen got scrambled. when i turned it back on i had this pokemon named T that had over 9,999 hp cause it was a symbol then 3 numbers and I used a full restore and it took 5 minutes to fill up. i don't remember it's stats, but ist's moves were TM53,TM54,TM53 again, and seismic toss. strange dontya think?
2. get an alakazam so it's beeping from low hp. send it into battle and it will cry like gastly.
3. go to the entrance to cycling road outside of cladon without a bike. walk straight in, and a guy will be standing in a wall when he says you need a bike. go upstairs first and he will be in the middle of the floor, 2 spaces away from you!
4. This one is more like a trick than a glitch. but here goes. have a pokemon with you that knows fly and another at level 100.(if the bird is l. 100 then that's okay too.) beat the elite 4 using only the pkmn at l. 100. then fly back to indigo plateau. look at it's stats, then deposit the pkmn that beat the elite 4. take 4 or 5 steps but don't leave the room. go back and it's stats will be higher. you can do this about 20 times
