Chapter Five

Lily sat on the edge of her cot with her head in her hands. She knew Kevin was still in the kitchen because she hadn't heard him exit it yet. Reflecting back on what just happened, Lily shivered slightly. Her lips still burned where Kevin's tongue had been. She'd never felt anything quite like that when Kevin had licked her lips. Although it was simple, Lily knew it wasn't innocent. She'd seen the hot desire in Kevin's eyes and felt it run through her too.

Lily jumped when she felt Brian's hand on her back and moved away quickly. Realizing what she had done, she sat back down.

"What's wrong, Lily?" he asked, sitting up, rubbing his eyes.

"Nothing's wrong." Lily answered shortly.

"Yes there is. You just jumped like I set you on fire or something. Something is wrong."

"Nothing is wrong, Brian." she repeated, raising her voice slightly and standing up. "You just startled me, OK?" Lily saw the slight hurt look register in Brian's eyes but ignored it as she stalked from the room and into the bathroom.

"Damn him." she muttered once she closed the door behind her. First he had her feeling things she shouldn't be feeling about him and now he had her yelling at Brian. "Damn him." she repeated. If it were the last thing she would do she would stay away from him and enjoy the rest of her vacation.

Standing in the kitchen, totally engrossed in his own thoughts, Kevin jumped when Brian said "Mornin Kev."

"I seem to have that effect on everyone this morning." Brian commented after he saw Kevin jump. When he saw Kevin look at him in confusion he said, with a wave of his hand. "Nevermind, Lily's just acting weird this morning."

Kevin sat down at the table and closed his eyes as a wave of guilt washed over him. What would Brian say if he knew that only a few moments ago he'd been in this very kitchen licking his girlfriend's lips?

"Kev, are you OK, man?" Brian asked as he saw his cousin's closed eyes.

"Um...yeah...I'm OK. Brian, I'm just going to go take a shower, OK?" he said and stood up.

"Can't. Lily's in there." Brian said and raised his eyebrows at how quickly Kevin sat back down.

"Our flight leaves in two hours." Kevin said, changing the subject, but unable to get the image of Lily in the shower out of his mind.

"Yeah, we should probably wake everybody up and get ready." Brian said and stood up. "I'll go get started." and at that he exited the kitchen.

***************

Sitting on the plane, Kevin leaned forward to the seat in front of him and tapped AJ on the shoulder. "Switch places with me." he whispered.

"Uh-uh." AJ said and replaced his earphones.

Kevin clamped his hand down on AJ's shoulder and squeezed hard. "Ow! OK, man! I'm moving!" AJ said and got up and stood in the isle.

As soon as he was up, Kevin slid into the seat he had just vacated.

"Lily, we need to talk." he whispered to her, sitting beside him.

"No we don't." Lily responded and glancing over at the sleeping Brian beside her, put her own earphones on her head.

"Dammit, Lily, yes we do. And I'm not leaving until we do. You might was well talk to me now."

Lily snatched the earphones off of her head and looked at Kevin. "What?" she said.

"This morning-" he began but was interrupted.

"This morning," Lily inserted, "was a mistake. Let's just not let it happen again."

"Fine." Kevin said in an icy tone. "It won't happen again." He then rose out of his seat and went back to his own seat, letting the fierce look on his face be the only cue AJ needed to return to his own seat.

What did he expect her to say? He asked himself. Did he expect her to just fall into his arms and declare she wanted him more than Brian? Kevin grumbled to himself and ignored Howie's look that told him he thought he was losing it.

***************

"I can't believe this!" Kevin shouted.

"Kev, calm down it'll be OK." Howie tried to reassure him. They were standing in the Colorado airport and Kevin had just found out that the airport had lost his keyboards, and found them shortly after. The only problem being that they were found back in Orlando, Florida.

Kevin attempted to calm himself down and rubbed the bridge of his nose, between his eyes where a headache was beginning. This vacation was just not going as planned. "You're right Howie." Kevin said with a sigh. "It will be OK." He was more trying to reassure himself more than anyone else. More than a little tired of airports in general, Kevin followed the rest of the group as the left the airport on the way to their hotel rooms.
