The Cold Within

Six humans trapped in happenstance.

In dark and bitter cold,
Each one possessed a stick of wood,
Or so the story's told . .
Their dying fire in need of logs

The first woman held hers back,
For of the faces around the fires,
She noticed one was black . . .

The next man looking across the way
Saw not one of his church,
And couldn't bring himself to give
The fire his stick of birch . . .

The third one sat in tattered clothes
He gave his coat a hitch,
Why should his log be put to use,
To warm the idle rich?

The rich man just sat back and thought
Of the wealth he had in store,
And how to keep what he had earned,
From the lazy, shiftless poor . . .

The black man's face bespoke revenge
As the fire passed from sight,
For all he saw in his stick of wood
Was a chance to spite the white . . .

The last man of this forlorn group
Did naught except for gain,
Giving only to those who gave,
Was how he played the game . . .

The logs held tight in death's still hands
Was proof of human sin,
They didn't die from the cold without,
They died from the cold within.

financing of this great Citywide Revival and who worked with us to make this Citywide Revival a Reality.

We thank the radio stations, WWNR, WCIR, WJLS and others, the television stations, WOAY, WVVA

and others, the newspapers, the Register-Herald, the Raleigh Explorer and others, banks, local businesses,

the churches, CWV, the Sunday Morning Inspirational Programs and many more of you, all of who selflessly

worked and played a part in making this Citywide Revival a success.

You all came together and worked together to make it work_this makes the dream of unity a reality.

Together, we "Make a Difference!"

That is our dream, and it is the very core and spirit of the Citywide Revival_working together to achieve unity

the people of the city and the universal church working together to Make a Difference!

The Christian Ministerial Alliance would especially like to thank all of the Pastors and Churches who opened

their doors to us for this great Citywide Revival.

It is our sincere hope and prayer that "the spirit of UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY" will continue to keep our

doors open to one another and that the fellowship of the Spirit of GOD will continue to burn within our hearts.
