Thick Nick (Nicholas Ray Wilds) was born on October 24, 1983 at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.  He was the only child of Donald and Sherry. Nick lived a relatively normal childhood until the age of 6, when he was diagnosed with Legg-Calve Perthes Disease (LCPD). He traveled to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital to go under the care of Dr. Alvin H. Crawford.  After a few surgeries and laying in a full body cast for about 2 months, Wilds returned to his life as a student at Highlawn Elementary School. He began his football career with the Enslow Bulldogs D - Team. When Thick was 9 his family moved to Barboursville, West Virginia. He started to claim the "Williamsburg Colony" (WBC). He enrolled at Martha Elementary and began playing football for the Barboursville Pirates. Nick asked his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to come into his heart and became a member at Elmwood Missionary Baptist Church.  Country Music played a huge part in Nick's childhood. He frequently listened to George Strait, Garth Brooks, and Clay Walker. He entered Barboursville Middle School and was quickly acquainted with the East Pea Ridge Gang (EPR) and the Guyan Estates Crew (GE). He played football for Barboursville Middle School.  During a Thanksgiving Day football game, Nick received the nickname, Thick Nick, thanks to Roman Hodges and John Madden. It wasn't until the release of Bone Thugs N Harmony's "Dayz of Our Livez" that Nick payed much interest to the world of hip hop. However, the smooth vocals of the five Cleveland rappers quickly attracted Nick. His first 3 rap CDs were Bone Thugs, Wu- Tang and Busta Rhymes. In 1998 Thick Nick began his stint at Cabell Midland High School.  He began playing football on the same team with his previous rivals, Ryan Frazier and Cameron Guill. Thick received Mono and missed nearly the first 6 weeks of school. He returned to full health in time to participate in the famous "Homecoming Incident." During his sophomore year, he began writing his own lyrics, never to lay them over beats and discarding most of them. Football and weight lifting had become a huge part of his life. It now became a challenge to balance both rap and country music in his car CD player. He would listen to George Strait followed by Crucial Conflict. During his junior year he would play linebacker for a Cabell Midland Football team that reached the State Semi Finals.  After the season Nick was involved in a car wreck that left his shoulder and back both blownout. He would spend hours writing rhymes, but again never recording anything. Over AOL, Nick was introduced to Soundmaster. Soundmaster and Thick would chat on and off over the next year, but never linked up on a track.  During his senior year he would be the Student Body Secretary.  He would also captain a football team that landed in the first round of the State Playoffs. Thick would land various All Conference and All State teams. He would meet his girlfriend Sarah Renee Spoor. They spent most of his senior year together before they took a break. During the second semester of Thick's senior year, he would attend Marshall University to get a start on his college degree. Around May Thick would turn to his now close friend Soundmaster to begin the road to rapping.  They would link up on their first of many songs, "Grimey." Grimey was a local hit amongst many teens from Cabell Midland High School, Spring Valley High School, and Huntington High School. Thick also was a supporter of Big Rob's Annual Pig Roast. After graduation Thick Nick and 18 of his closest friends traveled to Cancun. In Mexico he attained a good musical connection with Naughty By Nature, who listened to him rap and then invited him to open for them at their concert at Club Life. Thick then represented Cabell Midland High School along with close friend Cameron Guill at the 2002 North South All Star Game. Thick Nick's first CD is scheduled for an August 12, 2002 release and will be the first album coming out of Soundlab Entertainment.  Just imagine, 18 years old and focused… stay tuned….
