Jewel Honored "1999 Women of the Year" by Glamour
On Thursday Nov. 11, Jewel was honored by Glamour Magazine at their 10th Anniversary "Women Of The Year" Gala event in New York City. Jewel was honored for her dedication toward humanitarian goals & the achievements of her non-profit foundations Higher Ground For Humanity, whose mission is to inspire positive change on global, community and individual levels & Clearwater Project, which provides clean drinking water in impoverished areas of the world.
Jewel is on the cover & the subject of a feature article in the Dec. 99 issueof Glamour.

Jewel to perform at "Christmas In Washington"
Jewel, B.B. King, 98 Degrees and Christina Aguilera will be among the artists performing at "Christmas in Washington", a TNT concert to benefit the Children's National Medical Center on Dec. 12. President Clinton and wife Hilary Rodham Clinton will be among the honored guests for the hour-long special, hosted by Time Warner, which will be taped live at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. These artists will perform their favorite Christmas songs for the concert.
The mission of Children's National Medical Center is to be preeminent in providing pediatric healthcare services that enhance the health and well-being of children regionally, nationally, and internationally.
"Christmas in Washington" will air Dec. 12 on TNT at 8p.m.
