2) RE: Doorway pages

Hotbot, Alta Vista, Planetsearch, Magellan, Questfinder.com, NationalDirectory.com, Northern Light have been working okay lately. However, Search.msn.com has not been updating for quite some time. Also, AOLnetfind.com appears to be sharing Excite database and Excite may be switching to HotBot results soon.

Webmasters Tips #2

1) Re: FRAMES: This is Very Important if you have a FRAMES web site. Most people with Frames may understand this already however, it is worth emphasizing even though we may risk redundancy.
Be careful with frames. Many search engines treat frames as separate links within your site, which may cause the spider to have to revisit your site as it traverses other links. To avoid any problems, use the <NOFRAMES> tag in your main page to include descriptive text and keywords/phrases. The main point re: Frames: it is very important to put the keywords inside the noframes tag, and keywords should be the first words inside of them (the typical noframes message of "Your browser does not support frames" should come last).

Infoseek ? - It requires root domain w/ directory listing, you should follow their "Reviewed Sites directory." A collection of hand-picked sites. Because an actual person chooses these sites instead of a computer, they are top-quality sites that represent the best of the Web. At www.infoseek.com/ Clicking the Topics tab will take you there. Click on any of the topics, and you will be able to view the hand-picked sites. Another way to get into the Reviewed Sites directory is through the search results page. When you perform a search, you will be given results from both the directory and the entire Internet. The Reviewed Sites area on your results page contains topics from the directory. Click on the links, and sites from the directory that pertain to your search will appear.
Lycos ? doesn't work well at the moment. They are rumored to be changing to a directory structure.
Webcrawler ? they only list your homepage.
Yahoo ? <no way for doorways> - it's a true directory in alphabetical order.
