In Loving Memory of Bob
"The Loss Of Bob"
(A tender, heartfelt and loving poem written by Carolyn Trent,
for her dear friend’s terrible loss.)
The loss of a child is the worst grief to bear
This, I've always known.
And the grief more intense, the memories more
When the loss is of a child grown.
What do I do with this heavy heart
That cries for his mother, my friend?
And how long will it take to feel
This grief subside....is there ever an end?
I call on the phone, with tears in my eyes
With my heart breaking for her
I try to talk, I want the right words!
But it all comes out in a blur.
Can she feel me reach out
With concern, love, and sorrow?
Does she know I'll always be here for her
For today and all the tomorrows?
I hope she knows, I feel she knows
Because of the friendship that's grown
I'm blessed because we're like sisters now
I consider her one of my own.
We've laughed and shared for a number of years
So much more than anyone knows
Now we're sharing the very worst of those times
As the river of grief overflows.
But I know in my heart, without any doubt
That Bob looks down from above
He's with his mom, so close to her
With that grin and the comfort of love.
And I hold her too, close to my heart
This wonderful friend of mine
And hope she knows, that in the scheme of things
Bob is with her.....For all time.
