I had another dream last night.
I dreamt I was back
and I was hugging you and you were hugging me
and I never wanted to let go.
You would never have let me go
I know
if "good bye" hadn't hung
from the gallows of the gateway
for all seventeen days.
As far as I know it's still there.
I didn't take it down.
So I know it'll be there when
we go back
grinning like a long lost friend
which was maybe why
you held me so tightly
in the dream
and maybe it was why
I didn't hug you one last time
twenty three days ago
because we had been saying goodbye
all along.
