By the first of March, the days are pleasant. The snow is still on the ground
but it's not as deep as it was. The sun is melting the snow on the paved areas.
The snow graders busily push the snow berms away from the edge of the highway.
This week the low temperature will rise above freezing for the first time in months.
In the meantime, the midwest is having snowstorms while Fairbanks basks in the winter sun.
March is the month for
March is the time to start seedlings indoor for outside planting later. On March 21, Alaska has the same number of hours of daylight as of darkness, just like the rest of the world as the earth rotates on its axis and reaches the spring equinox.
