Unit zero was the first of the evangelions developed by NERV. It was soon upgraded for close combat after the fight with Sandalfon the 8th angel. Previous to that, was the need of a lot of repair and a new paint job from orange to blue. This was the cause of the battle against Ramiel the 5th angel, were unit zero was asigned to protect unit one from this angel's beam cannon. Within this unit's core is the soul of Naoko Akagi.

Pilot: Shinji Ikari
Test Model
Unit one is known to be the strongest of all three units. This unit is the convination of Adam's and Lilith's DNA, there is were it's power come from. It's been in the most battles and has the highest success rate, it's also developed it's own energy core wich alows the unit to sometimes operate without the umbilical connetion, but this only happens when the pilot is in danger. within it holds Yui Ikari's soul, Shinji's mother, this is why Shiji has many visions about his mother. In an ocasion the unit ate an angel.
Unit EVA-02
Pilot: Asuka Langley Sohryuu
Production Model
This model is the base model of all future models sice its the production material. Unit two relies o lot on Asuka's piloting skills and its the only model that has fought under extreme conditions. The unit also relies on weapons like the progressive knife. This eva's core was build from Kyoko Zeppelin Sohryu, wich is Asuka's mother.
