The thrust to protect the river systems is global because water is life. The supply of good quality raw water from drinking and domestic use is decreasing due to deforestation, industrialization and pollution.
The clamor to protect the Cagayan de Oro River is a noble initiative to protect it from present and future pollutional pressure due to industrial wastes and sediments transported from watersheds.
