There is no fire like greed,
No crime like hatred,
No sorrow like separation,
No sickness like hunger of heart,
And no joy like the joy of freedom.

Health, contentment and trust
Are your greatest possessions,
And freedom your greatest joy.

Look within. Be still.
Free from fear and attachment,
Know the sweet joy of living in the way.

THOUGHT FOR THE MIND / BODY / SOUL

Thursday, January 26, 2006

Observe yourself and learn more about yourself.
Listen to your inner talk. Be aware of your emotions
when you are getting upset. Listen, watch, observe.
Are you allowing others to "piss you off" or "get you mad?"

You are in control of your emotions and your life.

THOUGHT FOR THE MIND / BODY / SOUL

Thursday, January 19, 2006

"When we want to see deeply into the heart and mind of another person, soul seeing, also called soul gazing, allows us to see their soul. The soul is the purest expression of an individual and is not bound by physical forms or fleeting emotions. Through a simple art that involves looking deeply into a partner's eyes, soul seeing can show you a person's inner beauty that you might otherwise miss. It is possible for someone who appears cold to have a warm, giving, nurturing soul or someone of average appearance to have a beautiful soul. Soul seeing is a way of looking past shapes, sizes, attitudes, and behavior to see the real individual that lies beneath the surface. It allows you to see the true essence of another person, the radiance of their being, and their spirit within.

Soul seeing is accomplished by sitting face to face with another person. It is helpful to first state your intention before you begin. As you stare softly into each other's eyes without stopping to look away, each of your souls is revealed to the other. Try not to look for anything in particular or seek traits you're hoping to find. Simply let the other person's soul reveal itself to you. After twenty minutes have passed, stay where you are and share a period of silent reflection with your partner for two minutes. You may have suddenly seen your partner's inner nature as clearly as a bright day, or you may need to meditate on your experience before you feel comfortable with your impressions. Either way, soul seeing can be a wonderfully intimate and shared experience.

So little of who each of us is can be captured by our appearance or personality. The thoughts, fears, desires, and longings that are part of what makes us whole are not always written across our faces. Often, the most surprising thing you may learn while soul seeing is that while you and the other person may appear on the surface to be quite different, you actually share many of the same inner qualities. And then there is the unique beauty that resides within that is longing to be revealed to another who is willing to see. Soul seeing can help you experience the people in your life as they truly are, beyond any mental barriers or physical limitations."

THOUGHT FOR THE MIND / BODY / SOUL

Thursday, December 1, 2005

All things in the universe move from the subtle to the manifest and back again. Whether the form is that of a star or a person, the process is the same. First, the subtle energy exists. Next, it becomes manifest and takes on life. After a time, the life passes away, but the subtle energy goes on, either returning to the subtle realm, where it remains, or once again attaching to manifest things. The character of your existence is determined by the energies to which you connect yourself. If you attach yourself to gross energies - loving this person, hating that clan, rejecting one experience or habitually indulging in another - then you will lead a series of heavy, attached lives. This can go on for a very long and tedious time. The way of the integral being is to join with higher things. By holding to that which is refined and subtle, she traverses refined and subtle realms. If she enters the world, she does so lightly, without attachment. In this way she can go anywhere without ever leaving the center of the universe.

THOUGHT FOR THE MIND / BODY / SOUL

Thursday, November 24, 2005

What are you thankful for?
Think of all the things and people that have contributed
to your existence, wellbeing and quality of life on Earth.
Family, friends, coworkers, foes, sun, plants, animals, pets.
The list goes on. Could you have survived so far without them?
Isn't it time to "give back" and show concern for that which
has given you life? There are plenty of ways to help Earth.
Without YOUr help, we continue the cycle of not returning
energy and unlimited love that we receive.

THOUGHT FOR THE MIND / BODY / SOUL

Thursday, November 10, 2005

Every departure from the Tao contaminates one's spirit. Anger is a departure,
resistance a departure, self- absorption a departure.
Over many lifetimes the burden of contaminations can become great. There is
only one way to cleanse oneself of these contaminations, and that
is to practice virtue. What is meant by this? To practice virtue is to
selflessly offer assistance to others, giving without limitation one's time,
abilities, and possessions in service, whenever and wherever needed, without
prejudice concerning the identity of those in need. If your willingness to give
blessings is limited, so also is your ability to receive them.
This is the subtle operation of the Tao.

From "Hua Hu Ching: The Unknown Teachings of Lao Tzu"

Thursday, November 3, 2005

Men and women who wish to be aware of the whole truth should adopt
the practices of the Integral Way. These time-honored disciplines calm
the mind and bring one into harmony with all things.

The first practice is the practice of undiscriminating virtue: take care
of those who are deserving; also, and equally, take care of those who are
not. When you extend your virtue in all directions without discriminating,
your feet are planted firmly on the path that returns to the Tao.

From "Hua Hu Ching: The Unknown Teachings of Lao Tzu"

THOUGHT FOR THE MIND / BODY / SOUL

The Four Agreements

by Don Miguel Ruiz

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word

Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don't Take Anything Personally

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you wonít be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don't Make Assumptions

Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best

Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

What is more important than your family?
Your family members (parents, sisters, brothers, etc)
are irreplaceable. Friends come and go in and out of
your life, but family is there for you. Can you meet
another mother, father, sister, brother? Be there for
them. Love them. Appreciate them. Show your love.
Many of us take our family members and their love
for granted. Think how you will feel when they are gone.
Forever. Nurture and appreciate your relationship now.

Children need to be empowered...with knowledge, love, and imagination.

I relax and imagine myself filled with positive thoughts.
In my mind's eye I see myself surrounded by a blanket of light which
only allows positive thoughts into my consciousness. I imagine myself
going through my day thinking positive thoughts and experiencing the
wonderful and beautiful reality these thoughts create for me. I see the
positive responses from other people that my positive thoughts attract.
I combine these images with the feelings of joy and let them go, knowing
that they will create the good things I am visualizing and thinking.

Quote by Anonymous

When you feel good, You allow good.
The way you feel is your indication of your vibrational connection
to your Source. The better you feel, the better your connection; the worse
you feel, the more disallowance to that connection.

Nothing is more important than your feeling good - because nothing is
more important than your connection to your Source.

Love can change hate into caring.

"When a man falls in love, he almost instinctively seeks to present a gift.

We are all interconnected...everything in nature.
One of the most important things that anyone needs to understand
is that every living thing has consciousness has a connection
to everything else in the universe. People, animals and plants
are all connected to the hidden energy of universal consciousness
that permeates the entire universe and 'wires' all of us together.

Once we all understand this, we can evolve and progress.

THOUGHT FOR THE MIND / BODY / SOUL

I believe in UNCONDITIONAL love, i.e. when we love but expect no love
in return. In that regard, we are capable of TRULY loving (animals,
Earth, family members, humanity in general).

One-on-one love is destined to be flawed as it depends on many variables
(mostly what we do and say). We fall in love and fall out of love.
Emotions, emotions, emotions....such unstable things. One-on-one
(romantic) love is flawed for another reason. It often causes jealousy,
hate, and distrust (anyone heard of murders and mutilations of
wives, husbands, lovers?! Wars?)

UNCONDITIONAL love does not. Maybe THAT is why we are so unique in
this vast universe. Maybe we should increase unconditional
love in order to improve ourselves and others?

Cause of all evil: GREED
It is not money that is the cause of all evil.
I believe that human greed is responsible for
a lot of destructive behavior in the world.
It is great to make money and enjoy your life.
The problem is when someone's insatiable appetite
for MORE takes over their reasoning and actions.
It is when someone's greed hurts someone else.
It is when someone's greed destroys animals & nature.
It is when our compassion goes out of the window
when we get overwhelmed by greed.
Is there a cure for GREED?

Do you feel passionate about what you do for a living?
Are you drawn to anything else? What does your intuition say?
Do you feel that you have a purpose in life or you feel that your
purpose in life is to survive day-by-day and mind your own business?

whether you believe that you should contribute to the world around you.

Very smart dog:

I went to the movies the other day and in the front row was an old man and with him was his dog. It was a sad funny kind of film, you know the type. In the sad part, the dog cried his eyes out, and in the funny part, the dog laughed its head off. This happened all the way through the film. After the film had ended, I decided to go and speak to the man.

"That's the most amazing thing I've seen," I said. "That dog really seemed to enjoy the film."

The man turned to me and said, "Yeah, it is. He hated the book."

EFFECTS OF MERCURY RETROGRADE (11.30.04-12.20.04)

When Mercury turns retrograde by transit, think in terms of the possibility for communication breakdown. Mercury is the Director of the Communication Department and while retrograde, is on sabbatical for about three weeks. The details normally handled by the Communication Department aren't being tended to as carefully as they are when Mercury is direct. All types of communication have the potential for becoming confused, delayed or misunderstood. There can be confusion, changing of plans, indecisiveness, mail-slowdowns, lost letters, transportation problems, electronic equipment breakdowns, and failures in negotiations--all the more if Mercury's retrograde involves the sign Gemini or your natal third house. For these reasons, it is felt that the Mercury retrograde period is not a good time for signing contracts, scheduling negotiations, or launching new projects. It's a good time for planning and organizing anything that will be finalized after Mercury has returned to direct motion.

Following story was contributed by one of MindTune readers:

An Old Cherokee Legend Regarding Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that
goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between 2 wolves."
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity,
guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his
grandfather, "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

than the virtue of selflessness.

Selflessness unites people.

It is a healing herb that unifies
strangers and brings
families together.

It is the love for others that is
higher than self-love;

It is our only hope."

from "Heart of a Buddha"

MAKE TIME for yourSELF!

Life is supposed to keep you occupied and busy.
However, we all need time to recharge, relax, refresh.
You will never FIND time...you must MAKE time for yourself.
Once you do that, here are a few meaningful ways
to focus on YOUR WELLBEING:
do something that relaxes you (draw, read, paint, sing, write),
meditate, visualize, exercise, run, swim, do yoga,
do something for those around you.

Do what YOU enjoy. Your mind and body will be thankful.
