Bessie really enjoyed her trip to the Kennedy Space Center. She has long dreamed of being the first cow in space. Maybe someday... The bus tour provided some fantastic views of the space shuttle launch complex. The first picture shows Bessie looking out from the observation deck toward the Vehicle Assembly Building in the distance. This very large building is where the shuttle is mated to the external fuel tank and solid rocket boosters prior to launch. In the second photograph you can see launch pad A - one of two pads the shuttle launches from. Finally, in the third picture below, Bessie was mortified to see just how large rockets really are. This is an exact life-size Saturn V rocket that was never used. Yes, that is a real man standing below it!
