Yep, this the part where we introduce the band. I thought it'd be best to let everyone introduce themselves, so let's all get to know one another! Because...well damnit do I need a reason for everything?! But first, a brief history lesson.

It was a long and tiring drive home from Florida in October of 2003. Matt and Steve had been on vacation with Matt's mom and sister, and conversation was running dry in the car ride.

"I'm thinking of starting a band." Steve said.

"Oh. Cool." Matt replied, hardly enthused at the time. He had played bass a few years back, but never really gotten into it. It wasn't until he got back that he realized just how much he had missed it.

At the same time, Connor and James were considering starting up their own musical adventure. This idea was given to them by their friend Nat. The original band consisted of Nat, Connor, James and Matt. They had no drummer and only practiced once.

Soon after, Nat left informally to join another project. Matt, Connor and James found themselves lacking a drummer with only weeks to the Coffee House show at which they were to make their debut. James provided the solution, enlisting the help of friend and drum star Xia. Together they practiced in Connor's garage until they were kicked out and relegated to the living room.

As Coffee House approached in May 2004, the band buckled down and practiced like hell, working out three songs they would perform: 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago, Hello Time Bomb by Matthew Good, and an alternate version of Whole Lotta Love by Zepplin to which they would indubitably jam hardcore. They were well received at the show, and prepared for their next task: the end of the year assembly.

"I hated 25 or 6 to 4 at this point and never wanted to play it again. Ever." Matt says, and they didn't play it. With a timeslot of only 10 minutes, they busted out The White Stripes "Girl You Have No Faith In Medicine" with a powerful punch, then went back to a jazzed up version of Whole Lotta Love. The show was a success, and at this point Steve informed Matt the other band wasn't going to happen and he wanted to join. Everyone was cool, and at this point the name was decided upon: To Be Determined.

And so, the story of To Be Determined has begun. Together they shall forge onward, not backward! Upward, not onward! And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!
