Illinois 29 is a north-south route following the west bank of the Illinois River from the I-80 corridor to Peoria, then crossing the river and running through downtown Springfield, to end at Pana.

Intersections from north to south:

IL29 begins at US6/IL89 near Spring Valley

IL26 joins from the north near Bureau

IL26 leaves to the southeast toward Hennepin

IL29 intersects a connector that runs north to I-180 IL18 at Henry

IL17 joins for the west for a short while at Sparland

IL17 leaves east

IL40 in Peoria

Then IL29 turns southwest to cross the Illinois River along with IL8/116

IL8 breaks off soon after

Then IL29 breaks off southwest as IL116 goes northwest

IL29 joins IL9 west at Pekin

IL9 breaks off in Pekin

IL29 follows US136 west

IL29 breaks off and heads due south again

IL10 at Mason City

IL123 joins from the east

IL123 leaves west just east of Athens

IL4 at Springfield

IL97 joins IL29 east through downtown Springfield

IL97 leaves IL29 on the east side of Springfield

I-55/I-72/US36

IL104 at Taylorville

IL48 at Taylorville

US51/IL16 at Pana.
