Illinois 34 is a generally northwest-southeast route in southern and far southeastern Illinois. It begins at Benton and runs through Harrisburg and Shawnee National Forest to end at Rosiclare, on the Ohio River in Hardin County.

IL34 begins at the traffic circle in the center of the town of Benton, which carries Illinois Routes 14 and 37
IL149 at Thompsonville
IL34 joins IL13 east at Harrisburg
IL34 turns south onto US45 as IL13 crosses that route, still in Harrisburg
IL145 begins at US45 as IL34 turns southerly onto it, still at Harrisburg
IL145 breaks off after a while
IL34 joins IL146 east
IL34 breaks off and heads south into Rosiclare
IL34 ends in the town of Rosiclare, near the Ohio River.
