ABSOLUTE. Potassium-Argon (K-Ar) dating - method used to date rocks, though it is restricted to volcanic material no more recent than 100,000 years old. It is one of the most widely used methods in the dating of early hominid sites in Africa.*

Asside from radiocarbon dating, this is one of the most commonly used methods of absolute dating.
