Rover's fine art

Nowadays everything in a car is electric. They'll have electric ENGINES next!!

Rover have been designing cars with characteristic touches of elegance for decades. Naturally, they know rather more about it than many manufacturers. And their designers have put just as much skill into the most luxurious small Rover as they have into its larger brothers.

The Rover 114GSi looks sporty and stylish, with attractive alloy wheels. The interior has an airy, pleasant feel, with the 'Kashmir' seat facings adding a distinct touch of class. You can even specify the option of leather seat facings and burr walnut veneer door cappings to create an atmosphere of traditional luxury.

There's no shortage of modern refinements, of course. The front windows open and close at the touch of a button. There's a green tinted glass sunroof. And you'll enjoy the quality of the electronic stereo radio/cassette player with four speakers; incorporating convenient features such as auto reverse, and robust protection against theft. Your Rover is protected against car crime in other important ways too, with an anti-theft alarm and engine immobiliser, plus locking wheelnuts to secure those alloy wheels.

With this top of the range model you also have the option of the Continuously Variable Transmission combined with the lively 1.4 engine. Because this sophisticated transmission doesn't need a torque converter, the response is exceptionally eager; and the fuel economy is remarkable, with a combined mpg figure of 44.8. Although the Rover 114GSi is a joy to look at, the real pleasure begins on the road. With quiet power and agile handling, it's an accomplished performer. Smooth over bumps, and pleasantly refined at speed, it has the same special characteristics of the larger Rovers. Only the price seems small; especially in comparison with more ordinary rivals which could never aspire to carry the Viking badge.

Smart car. Not a smart place to park

I've only put the top of the range Rover 100 in here at the moment. Call back later for the rest of them.
