Welcome! You are very brave to come to the house where a werewolf once lived. Don't mind the howling and scratching nosies you hear, they're just... well... Let me tell you the story. Yes, you read correctly, a werewolf. But not just any werewolf...this werewolf was once a student and then the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! His name is Professor R. J. Lupin. As a boy, Lupin was bitten by a werewolf. In that time, there was no cure for the bite. So Lupin was destined to become a werewolf every time a full moon appeared. As Lupin reached the age at which he would attend Hogwarts, parents of other witches and wizards did not want their children to be around a werewolf. So the year he came to Hogwarts was the year this house was built, and the Whomping Willow was planted so no other student would come across Lupin while he was a dangerous werewolf. To transform into a werewolf is very painful, and since Lupin was separated from humans so he couldn't bite them, he'd bite and scratch himself instead. The villagers were hearing this type of noise and screaming, so they thought that they were hearing violent spirits. Not wanting to give Lupin's secret away, Headmaster Dumbledore encouaged the rumor. Even now, when the house has been silent for years, the villagers don't dare approach it.

But yet, if this house has been silent for years, why am I hearing noise now....
